Actually I would be in favor of a clause that would reduce congressional pay every time they vote to spend on something.

I wish we could peg the budget than limit the growth to say 3% a year constitutionally. There are many pitfalls to this but dang, just dang.

Hamilton understood raising the rate too high will result in a decrease in purchases consequently reducing the amount of tax collected. Congress will then be forced to either lower the rate to once again maximize the amount of tax collected or reduce spending

This would be the case only if there existed a balanced budget amendment The Reagan rate cuts proved that revenue is increased when income tax rates are reduced. Congress cares little about raising revenue; what they want to use taxes for is to control the behavior of the taxpayer. This is what needs to be stopped.

Getting rid of the IRS would cause a surge in productivity and ultimately, wealth, in this country, not only because of the actual effect of restructuring Federal taxes, but because of the psychological boost. Right now in most people’s minds, it is like a giant vulture hovering over them, casting its shadow on everything as it waits to feed.

The Marxists would be beaten back into the dark holes they crawled out of, never to be seen again. the FAIR tax system = FREEDOM and growth. It means not ONE PENNY taken out of your paycheck. No information on your private life going to Washington - no income tax reforms, no reporting of income...well, here's a pretty good rundown.

This has been building for years, but the demRats are giving us the boost to make it a movement that will finally resonate with the general public...it's the ONE weapon that can drive the stake into the heart of the beast.

To your post #16 & #22, my post @ #19: I am but a lightweight among many great minds here @ FR! Thank you for pointing out my ignorance, in the true sense of the word. I really should read all of the posts before I touch the keyboard:)
