WASHINGTON The Holocaust survivors who helped build Israel "made our world better," US Gen. David Petraeus said Thursday.
"The men and women who walked or were carried out of the death camps, and their descendents, have enriched our world immeasurably in the sciences and in the arts, in literature and in philanthropy," said Petraeus, the key note speaker at the US Holocaust Memorial Museum commemoration in the Capitol Rotunda.
"They have made extraordinary contributions in academia, in business, and in government. And, they have, of course, helped build a nation that stands as one of our great allies. The survivors have, in short, made our country and our world better, leaving lasting achievements wherever they settled."

Same can’t be said for muslims, in spite of what Nobama says.
The General is trying to make up for last week saying US support of Israel is killing US troops in Iraq & Afghanistan.
The world loves dead Jews. Hence the pre-occupation of the Obamabots with the Holocaust.

Good for Gen. Petraeus. On the one hand, he has no business sticking his nose in politics, particurlarly regarding areas not in Centcoms sphere of responsibility. His statements were distorted. As a human being, it's good to see him correcting the record.
Ohboy did he step in it....
General P is a smart ‘strategerist’. He knows what side of the bulwark to stand on concerning the promise of Genesis 12:3-— better to be cursed by man but blessed of God!
Reminds me of Patton’s apology for bitch-slapping the private in the mash tent.

As well-meant as his words were, he is reinforcing the myth that there were no Jews in Israel until right after the Holocaust, and then they just suddenly moved in and shunted aside the poor Palis.
In fact, Jews were living in Israel for thousands of years prior to 1948, and our numbers began increasing dramatically during the 19th Century. The push for independence began during the Holocaust, because England was refusing to allow more than a few thousand Jews into the country while millions were being slaughtered. But not all, or even most, Israelis are descendants of Holocaust survivors, simply because not all that many survived. About half are descendants of refugees from Arab countries.
This is what was promised by Great Briton.
