Despite a degree of optimism generated by recent job gains, one grim statistic casts a long shadow over the recovering economy: 44 percent of the nation's 15 million unemployed people have been out of work for more than six months.

Since this is the second Great Depresssion, that makes sense.
Yes, that’s Obama’s HOPE and CHANGE!
He’s methocially destroying one life at a time.
Happy days are here again.
But when their unemployment benefits run out, all of a sudden they will find a position. It may not be just what they were looking for, but they won’t curl up and die.
At some point these people are going to be MIGHTY angry.
One of my buddies who’s a closet Pubbie’ at UCLA just told me that most of his graduating class will bunker down for the summer, let the high school kids fight for those measly summer jobs, then apply properly in the fall when those same brats are back in school and wont dirty the water...
Maybe that is a little harsh.
There are plenty of people in parts of the country where there are no jobs to be had.
But I know a few guys who are not working, and not looking very hard right now. These fellows could find something if they absolutely had to.
FDR was just dumb about it. This time it’s intentional.
Work hard on 2010, then turn your eyes to 2012. We are like our wonderful snipers. Patience. Endurance. Watch and wait, and then strike. Politically, of course.
Maybe, maybe not. It’s not 2004 out there anymore. Especially for those over 40. I was a career counselor at the state “unemployment office” for many years.
Maybe some experience with poverty will break their haughty attitude. There is an intense entitlement attitude among our youth. Heck, THEY wanted Obama - we got stuck with him.
That's because the UCLA folks (as well as their counterparts at other major universities) have access to career fairs at their own schools that the high schoolers can't get into.
I'm a young American, and I didn't want Obama. Of course, I didn't want the Obama Lite candidate McCain either.
Remember when Bush was President and people had jobs?

I think you’re dreaming or not fully informed.
I think the job situation is much, much worse than most people will say or admit.
I think it’s going to get much, much worse also. I think Obama’s destruction of the American economy is a sea change in our lifetimes of historic proportions.
I think we’ll be lucky for the country to survive this without a violent revolution.
I think people will die because of this.
The Dims are a disaster if not a death knell for the country. Yes, I think it’s that bad.
I hope I’m wrong.
I think quite a few will curl up and die - at least in the economic sense. When I was out of work the last time (1990), I found things to fill the time and reduce expenses but now I am older and I know if I lose my job it won’t be easy getting a new one and it won’t be easy to live on less, particularly with all the meds I’m on.
I think there are quite a few people who are simply going to give up and go mooch off family or live off government welfare. It becomes a “lifestyle” after enough time passes.
As the Democrats make it more of a trap to have a job (because they clobber you with taxes), there will be many Americans who would rather be lazy all day and live off everyone else even if it means scraping by. Now that they have all these newly-discovered “rights”, why work for a living?
Had people really been listening to what Osama/Obama/Hussein was saying while running in the primaries, they couldn't have missed the implication that he was a “dictator in waiting”...I compare him to a Chavez wanna be. At the Nov. election when he won, I told our kids at that time that I really hoped we hadn't just had our last free election in this nation.
The Osama/Obammy Hugo Chavez comparison is apt. They’re both a couple of commie/socialist fruitcakes and weirdo’s that are detached from any reality that I know.
I wonder when the first shots will be fired?
Dimly... I seem to remember starting a company, making lots of money, driving a nice car, owning a home, etc...
