If I put myself in the mother's shoes for a minute, I can see a woman appalled at what's been done to her daughter and terrified at the thought of the filthy thugs stalking her daughter once she's out of the hospital...

I'm not saying it's good to stand down or cover up, but the physical reality of ongoing direct, vicious violence is probably enough to make all but the most courageous warrior intimidated. I hope they all start to carry and feel less intimidated.

Everybody has a legal right to defend themselves. If five men attacked me, and I had a gun, somebody would have a hole in them. That’s my right, as written in the law. Yes, we need to defend ourselves. Yes, we need to draw attention to these attacks when they occur, because no one else is going to do that for us.

I was only pointing out that the “Chicago way” line is a piece of fiction from a film describing the lawless situation in Chicago.
