If youre reading this, its probably safe to assume youre a hateful right-winger. At least, its safe to assume that the mainstream media will assume youre a hateful right winger.
As one example, the cover of the latest Newsweek promises to uncover Hate on the Right. Well, hows that news? Where else would it be?
The story notes that the FBI arrested individuals for making death threats against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Patty Murray of Washington for their votes on health-care reform.
But it plays down the fact that a Pennsylvania man was recently charged with threatening to shoot Republican Rep. Eric Cantor. Some threats come from people who are truly unhinged, the story says. The suspect is not competent to stand trial. Oh. Are there a lot of sane people threatening to shoot congressmen? If so, theyre probably all right-wingers.
This bias against conservatives explains why the media was so quick to place blame when congressional lawmakers cried racism.
Protesters outside the Capitol hurled epithets at Reps. John Lewis (D-Ga.) and Andre Carson (D-Ind.) as they left the building after President Obama delivered an 11th-hour speech on behalf of the health care bill, announced a story in The Washington Post March 20. I have heard things today that I have not heard since March 15, 1960, when I was marching to get off the back of the bus, House Majority Whip James Clyburn told reporters.
After the incident, Rep. Carson told reporters hed heard the n-word chanted 15 times. Things were so bad, I expected rocks to come. After all, terrorism really comes from racial supremacist groups such as the Tea Partiers hed just encountered.
Strong accusations. But wheres the evidence?
We live in an age when everything is on tape. Watch CNN for an hour and youll see pictures you never dreamed of: a train hitting a fire truck, a car careening into a rockslide. Its YouTube on cable. Yet, at the biggest news story of the year, with dozens of cameras, scores of journalists and an untold number of camera phones, nobody managed to tape a protester shouting the n word. Fifteen times.
I want to know, Rep. Carson added, those people who had cameras. I would love to get the actual [video]. Wouldnt we all. If it existed, theres no doubt wed have seen it by now.
But why wait for evidence? Journalists were ready to run with the story.
Theres nothing entertaining about watching goons hurl venomous slurs at congressmen like the civil rights hero John Lewis and the openly gay Barney Frank, wrote columnist Frank Rich in The New York Times on March 28.
Interesting verb choice there. Watching. Click on the link he helpfully provided. You wont be watching anything; its merely a link to a story in The Washington Post in which Tea Party protesters are (as the headline announces) accused of spitting on lawmaker, using slurs. For Rich, apparently, the accusation is proof enough.
It wasnt for Andrew Breitbart, who offered to donate $100,000 to the United Negro College Fund if anyone could produce video of a slur. He hasnt had to write a check yet. Because heres the hidden secret: These days, most of the hate (and hate speech) is on the left.
A recent Associated Press story explains that black conservatives have been called Oreos, traitors and Uncle Toms, and that they are really taking heat for their involvement in the mostly white Tea Party movement. Taking heat, and taking slurs -- from liberals.
Meanwhile, Opponents of the fiscally conservative Tea Party movement say they plan to infiltrate and dismantle the political group by trying to make its members appear to be racist, homophobic and moronic, begins another AP dispatch. Do I think every member of the Tea Party is a homophobe, racist or a moron? No, absolutely not, Jason Levin, the creater of a movement to derail the Tea Parties told reporters. Do I think most of them are homophobes, racists or morons? Absolutely.
Sounds as if Jasons ready to write a weekly column for The New York Times!
In fact, race relations in this country, while not perfect, have never been better. If the Left wants to refight the battles its already won, and even use the same sort of racially-based personal attacks that were once (but are no longer) used against it, fine. Thats a sign of weakness.
These days, there are few liberal ideas. And most of those (President Obamas health care law, for example) are already unpopular and get more so every day. Tea Parties have nothing to do with race or hate, and everything to do with freedom and opportunity. Mainstream reporters may never realize that, but a growing number of Americans do.
‘mostly white Tea Party movement’
I have been to several Tea Party demonstrations.
Using a few terms from the ‘lefty playbook’, there is much more ‘diversity’ along with ‘people of color ‘ at these Tea Parties then at a NAACP gathering or any latte sipping session in Hollywood.
The desire for LIBERTY from the Government is colorblind.
The only videotaped racial slur I’ve run across lately is the one that was delivered by a leftist thug (purple people-beater) against a black conservative.
And then there was the Rev. Jesse Jackson, caught on tape describing how he’d like to commit sexual mutilation of Barack 0bama.
The MSM has become part of the Obama administration. They elected him, he’s their guy and they are going to propagandize for his vision of an American future where the central government controls nearly all.
I’m already used to this reality. Enjoy Fox and Talk Radio while we can...because the government will come after them.
The FCC likely will move. Licenses will be challenged. There will be a move to equalize political speech. After all, Air America failed...so things have to be evened up.
The liberals still have NPR...hope the Republican congress goes after it in January.
Battles it won? It was the Republicans that were in the forefront of Civil Rights. The segregationists were big government Democrats i.e. Robert Byrd, who is fellow Dems made their leader and Fitz Hollings just to name to blatant examples.
Now that doesn't seem fair...very few liberals re competent to stand trail due to mental illness...but they still commit the crimes.
“Purple People Beater”
There’s nothing like the ring of truth.
IMHO
War is coming. There's no chance we are going to be able to reason with the left.
Why is free pie rejected?
It doesn’t make sense. does not compute. Or as c3po opined, it is beyond my capacity
After eight years where Bush was daily called vile names and wishes for his death were made into plays and uttered by many lefties, the media decides hate has suddenly cropped up among the citizenry. All on the right of course. How can these people look at themselves in the mirror in the morning? They’re the worst hypocrites I’ve ever seen.
You're right about him being their guy, but it was the GOP with their arrogant, Beltway centered, and pathetic leadership that elected Obama.
Arthur Bremer, who shot George C. Wallace in 1972, and the Unabomber are both liberals. Charles Manson is an anarchist; would-be assassin Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme was one of his harem. Lee Harvey Oswald was a Communist, an American defector to Russia who married a KGB colonel's daughter, came back, and joined the Fair Play for Cuba Committee. There was the Symbionese Liberation Army. There were cop-killer Rose Shakur, H. Rap Brown, Bobby Seale, and Huey Newton -- black radicals all. Then there were the Weathermen bomb-murderers, two of whom are now BFF's of the President of the United States.
And that isn't even a complete recital, but just an off-the-cuff informal listing.
But when the mass media talking heads discuss political violence -- it's all the right-wingers' fault, and Tim Robbins runs out and makes a film called Arlington Road, in which Scoutmasters who listen to Rush Limbaugh plot fiendishly clever ways to blow up the FBI.
Taking the voters for granted is a really good way to frost them -- and the MSM knows it, and they're giving wide play to the stupid statments Boehner and others are making about WHEN the GOP takes over in January!
bttt
The Left always accuses us what they do.
What, did Nancy let him in?
I’m going to et a bumper sticker that says, “They’re my people....Americans”.
Marina Oswald was the niece of a KGB official, not the daughter.
