BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) -- Republicans hoping to replace retiring U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning have met in Bowling Green for a forum with voters.
The candidates said Tuesday night they want to rein in federal spending and cut taxes on businesses to kickstart expansion and job growth.
Front-runner Rand Paul, a Bowling Green eye surgeon, blamed career politicians for weakening the economy with tax-and-spend policies that have driven up the cost of doing business.
Paul and his chief Republican rival, Secretary of State Trey Grayson, share the philosophy that reducing the size of the federal government is essential to strengthening the economy. Grayson said Congress needs to spend less money, cut onerous regulations and cut taxes.
Five Republicans and five Democrats are vying to replace Bunning, who opted not to seek a third term.
Rand is a chip off the old block, his awesome Dad, medical Doctor Ronald Paul( who has delivered 4000 little babies instead of killing them) who is leading all straw polls for our nomination and is even in the pols with beating oBOWma in 2012.( he lost the New Orleans poll by one rigged vote to the Massachusetts “slick boy” and the father of socialized medicine, Mitt Rollme). We love Rand and understand where his genius comes from. GO RAND!!
You think that Governor Palin who is an opponent and a competing 2012 candidate AGAINST Mitt Romney, “hooked Her wagon to mitt the other day” ?
That is your expert conclusion on her graciously handling that question in the manner that Reagan would have also done?
The big question to ask any candidate who calls for “smaller government”, especially if they *combine* it with “lower taxes”, which is a completely different thing, is to focus on the former statement.
How MUCH smaller government? Obama has been hiring hundreds of thousands of new government employees. Should they be canned, by cutting off the money to pay them? Should some of these federal employee unions be shut down, like President Reagan shut down PATCO?
Instead of slowing down the rate of government growth, will the candidates endorse *cutting* government, so that we have LESS in the future, not more, or even the same amount?
If there is a single government agency that needs to be shut down first, which one is it? Reagan said the Department of Education, but he couldn’t make that happen. Should it be shut down? Is running the nations educational system part of the responsibilities of the federal government in the constitution?
And how about renouncing the hundred TRILLION dollars the government has promised in the future, but cannot possibly pay? Will the candidate pretend that such nonsensical numbers are anything but madness?
Cutting taxes is grand. But even if the government took 100% of what every American earned, it couldn’t keep doing what it is doing today. Will the candidates at least try to make it stop spending like a drunken gambler?
Hey, She said it, not me.
So you knew that you were lying.
Your statement in post 3 was a lie, and you basically just repeated it.
It was loyalty to McAmnesty for bringing her to the forefront. I appreciate that. Nut she must quickly move on.
I don’t lie
You did here on this thread, you said that Governor Palin “hooked Her wagon to mitt the other day”, and then when challenged you repeated the claim.
Hey, It’s Sarah’s words. I didn’t like it , but from the Boston Herald
Look it up your self
Palin told the Herald she was serious about sharing a ticket with the former Bay State governor
AMEN! Don't let the many rabid PaulHaters on FR get to you. We are winning!
I will apologize for labeling you a liar though, although I cannot find the actual context and quotes of the statements scattered over several days, I can see how the media took the simple quote and then from a remark a day later puts the single word "serious" in with the mix, I can see how someone that wanted to believe the worst about Palin could be lead to rationalize to claim what you did without making a lie.
But this was so over the top that I don't think that you were putting energy into being honest. hooked Her wagon to mitt the other day
"AMEN! Don't let the many rabid PaulHaters on FR get to you. We are winning!"
You think that you are beating JR?

As soon as Paul made it to the first debate and Obama began laying out Paul’s positions on Social Security, Medicare and every other government program, Paul’s numbers would drop like a rock. It would be a 50 state blowout.
Not to mention, he will be older than McCain in 2008 and he’s not that articulate.
You guys would do much better to get behind someone fresh and articulate like a Paul Ryan who would also be strong on the issues you care about. Even if Paul is a Moses/Goldwater type and the rest of us have somehow missed it, he’s going to be way too old to lead the children into the Promised Land.
Could you send me that link? That’s funny stuff right there.
Thanks.
