Ky. Senate Candidates Call For Smaller Government

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) -- Republicans hoping to replace retiring U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning have met in Bowling Green for a forum with voters.

The candidates said Tuesday night they want to rein in federal spending and cut taxes on businesses to kickstart expansion and job growth.

Front-runner Rand Paul, a Bowling Green eye surgeon, blamed career politicians for weakening the economy with tax-and-spend policies that have driven up the cost of doing business.

Paul and his chief Republican rival, Secretary of State Trey Grayson, share the philosophy that reducing the size of the federal government is essential to strengthening the economy. Grayson said Congress needs to spend less money, cut onerous regulations and cut taxes.

Five Republicans and five Democrats are vying to replace Bunning, who opted not to seek a third term.

You’re right...Obama & the MSM (& many of his GOP opponents) would put the good doctor on the defensive on those issues. I think this just proves that America is, to its detriment & my disappointment, that America is ever-so-slowly turning away from being a center-Right nation being run by a political party that is in the Center (the GOP) & another that is on the uber-Left (the Dims).

The Paulestinians did the same thing in '07. They were convinced that Ron Paul was going to surprise everyone and win the '08 GOP nomination because his followers had spammed a few straw polls.

They were on here warning us about how they were going to gloat at us when it happened. The upside was that the cult got quiet for a while when that didn't happen.

The media will be pushing Paul and Romney (they've already started) because they know neither of them has a chance of winning the general election.

I honestly hope we can get a strong, true conservative on that ticket like Paul Ryan, Jim DeMint, Mike Pence or someone along those lines, so that we really can win and start taking our country back.

After glowingly quoting Obama all over his profile page regarding pot use, this is how ChrisInAR prefaces a humorous quote by Ronald Reagan:

“Let’s end with a quote from one of the most clueless U.S. Presidents [re: marijuana, anyway — Chris], who evidently thought of himself as an authority on cannabis:

‘I now have absolute proof that smoking even one marijuana cigarette is equal in brain damage to being on Bikini Island during an H-bomb blast’ - Ronald Reagan”

Here are a few things that the troll (ChrisInAR) used to have on his profile page (I'm pretty sure he later removed them). They give pretty good insight into what most of the Paulinistas believe:

“The question in my mind is
how many additional American
casualties is Saddam worth?
And the answer is
not very damned many. “
~Dick Cheney

“Victory means exit strategy,
and it’s important for the president
to explain to us
what the exit strategy is. “
~George W. Bush

“Free nations are peaceful nations.
Free nations don’t attack each other.
Free nations don’t develop
weapons of mass destruction. “
~George W. Bush

QUESTION: Then what does that say
about US, Mr. President???

“Why should we hear about body bags,
and deaths...I mean, it’s not relevant.
So why should I waste my beautiful mind
on something like that?”
~Barbara Bush

“I can tell you this:
If I’m ever in a position to call the shots,
I’m not going to rush to send
somebody else’s kids into a war. “
~George H.W. Bush

“...the role of the military is to fight
and win war and, therefore, prevent war
from happening in the first place. “
~George W. Bush

“If we don’t stop extending our troops
all around the world
in nation-building missions,
we’re going to have a serious problem
coming down the road. “
~George W. Bush

“If this were a dictatorship,
it’d be a heck of a lot easier,
just so long as I’m the dictator. “
~George W. Bush

Well as I noted to Jim and to Chris himself on another thread, he formerly went by the FReeper name libertyman, even as far back as 2004, but I think he was zotted.

In all fairness, a few years ago, I was veering to the dark side of Pauline libertarianism which explains why I have FReepmails from Chris back then. I could probably out a few more.

In the years since, I rediscovered my patriotism and skepticism of conspiracy theories in large part due to the floundering of the truth of Reformation theology in my heart (DISCLAIMER: this is not an attempt to convert you). I enlisted in the Army but unfortunately my service was cut short at just over a year in due to a back and neck injury.

Am I jerk now to be such a purist and expose Chris like that considering where I was a few years back? Yeah, probably. But in all truth, I would have banned myself a few years back. Some aspects of paleoconservatism/libertarianism are a cancer that infect sound conservative thought with suspicions that call into question not only the actions of government but the character of America. The Birchers and Paulites are one example. The fact that they can give credibility to an Alex Jones by appearing on his program speaks volumes about their character. No different than Obama/Ayers/Wright.

Wow. Very revealing.

It always comes down to the drugs, doesn't it?

One down, sevaral more to go (my opinion anyway). Many of these “Paul-nuts” are truly fanatics I think. Right up there with the Obama psychos. Really, watch your backs.
