Sarah Palin packs Five Points in Washington
Centralillinois ^ | 4-17-10 | Marc Strauss

Whatever you think of Sarah Palin she knows how to draw a crowd. On Saturday, at Five Points in Washington, that crowd numbered 1,100. Multimedia

Ron and Hazel Dyar came to see Palin speak after she personally replied to a letter they'd sent her.

"We're so proud of it and we have shown this note to many, many people. They just think this is awesome," bragged Mrs. Dyar.

Palin's husband, Todd, accompanied her. And after receiving the key to the city the former governor of Alaska explained why Central Illinois is a key to the nation's future.

"A lot of the eyes of America are on this area looking at what it is that you're doing right," Palin told the crowd from the podium. "Perhaps it will help other communities emulate those things that have been successful here. It is such an honor for me to get to be here. I so appreciate the key to the city."

Palin's message while speaking at Five Points was entitled "You Don't Need A Title To Make A Difference". Her appearance drew plenty of people with titles.

"I really don't see why the controversy," said Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis. "Her message is fairly clear. Her message fits in pretty strong in Central Illinois I believe."

"When you stand up for things and you say what you believe in you offend people any time you take a position. There are people who love her and there are people who don'.t," said Schock.

Many of the people who paid to see Sarah Palin at Five Points would like to see her run for president in 2012. But the guest speaker wasn't talking about that.

She also poked fun at the controversy over the requirements listed in a contract for her speech at a California university. Palin thanked the organizers of Saturday's event for providing a straw for her water bottle - "the bent kind, which I just read in the media that I supposedly insist upon."

I've said this before and I'll say it again:

1) Next speech, drink Cristal or Dom from the bottle through a crazy-straw.
2) enjoy lefties' heads exploding at the sight
4) ????????
3) profit

This is the new anti-Palin strategy from the left. They are trying to paint her as an out of touch diva. Can you imagine? There was a Latina lady on O'Reilly yesterday who just dripped with hate towards Sarah. Her problem? Sarah makes too much money and she can't possibly still portray herself as an average American.

Unbelievable...so now, after reading this, I realize that's the strategy...to make people turn away from her because she's rich. Man, they just don't get it.

I got polled today.

In 2012, would I vote for:

Tim Pawlenty
Mike Huckabee
Mitt Romney
Newt Gingrich
Obama
Somebody Else.

Somebody’s name was conspicuously missing in that question. And yes, my answer was that Somebody Else.

I don’t believe I have ever seen someone so young with so much hate and obvious envy for one person. The Latino probably makes a lot more money than I and I wouldn’t darken the door of Wal-Mart - obviously her measuring stick - so guess it’s a good thing I’m not running for any office cause I wouldn’t have her vote.

Nope, it’s a lie...her popularity is diminishing. The MSM is just makeing it up when reporting that she’s “packing them in”.../s

Sarah Palin wins by just being herself. Reading her autobiography “Going Rogue” I learned that the McCain campaign team constantly stifled her. That’s one reason they lost. She has a lot to offer an overtaxed, over-regulated, over politicized and over litigated nation.

Yup.

I’d vote for her, but you know, it’d just be because I felt sorry for her, and all…

That’s an interesting list. Somebody actually may have been trying to measure the intensity of support for that “somebody else”. Who polled you?

I wish I knew. I picked up the phone after it was already answering the message, so I missed the first sentence declaring who it was; and it was an automated poll with just one question. However, the last sentence was one stating if I didn’t wish to be called again to hit a number.

So they may call again. I’ll let you know if they do.
