CHICAGO, April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- For only the fifth time in its 57-year history, Playboy magazine has released its list of America's Top 10 Party Schools. The much-talked-about rankings, featured in the magazine's May 2010 issue (available on newsstands and at www.playboydigital.com on Friday, April 16), were determined by Playboy's editors, with input from the magazine's campus representatives, models, photographers, online voters, and student readers.

Four years ago my daughter was accepted at UT and UMich. She graduates from the latter in a few weeks. With that being said, we were very impressed with UT (Austin).
Rollins?
hardly.
they must have paid a publicist for this one.
hot undergrads?
yes—but florida state knows how to party.
I used to work with a Rollins grad. She wasn’t a partier (i.e. drinker) so much but man did she get around.
You got that right.
Dang! University of Arizona didn’t even make the list this year. They were number 1 back in the 80s.
But they don't know how to play football
Ive been to Morgantown WV on a Saturday home football game day.
If youve never seen a couch sitting in the street ablaze, youve really not lived.
Because the article is about “Party schools” and I commented on how many in the Freshman class is weeded out every year, wouldn’t it be safe to assume that my point is that many freshmen seem do more partying than studying?...which, BTW, is common to most college campuses.
Hillsdale is an amazing school.
What? No Hillsdale? /s
No surprise there...
Nice...awaiting reply from Sooners’ fans. :-)
That girl in the upper right needs to hit the gym and the salad bar more often - interesting how they kept her in the back row!
Thanks for explaining. I thought you were saying freshmen are flunked out without cause because of a lack of space. I agree lots of freshmen flunk out because of a lack of self discipline and balance. Let’s face it, when you’re 18 and your choice is underage drinking at a kegger or hitting the books, for many the kegger is going to win out. Some have to learn the hard way.
More likely it is because at UT has to automatically admit applying Texas students who were in the top 10% of their Texas high school classes. Given the mediocre quality of some high schools, it is not surprising that many freshmen fail. The state has recently lowered the percentage figure for UT admittance to the top 8% of their high school class [Link].
I can attest that West Virginia University is a major party school.
With all the nannyism these days, I'd guess we partied harder 20 years ago at my never-ranked Colorado State than they do today at U-Texas. Back then, the school itself threw keg parties on the lawn with barely a cursory enforcement of the new 21-year old drinking age.
Does any school do this today?
Congrats on your daughter! I remember we “spoke” about pharmacogenomics several years ago and your daughter was getting ready to visit the UT campus at that time. Wasn’t she pre med? My daughter ended up at UT, did 3 years of undergrad and is a P2 pharmacy student this year. She hopes to do a residency in HIV pharmacy after her clinical rotations. Thanks for all the good advice you gave years ago.
