Rahm Emanuel: 'I would like to run for mayor' (Surprise, surprise ;)
The Hill ^ | 4-19-10 | Sean J. Miller

Rahm Emanuel admitted he wants to return home and run for mayor of Chicago some time in the near future.

"I hope Mayor Daley seeks reelection. I will work and support him if he seeks reelection," the White House chief of staff told PBS's Charlie Rose in an interview. "But if Mayor Daley doesn't, one day I would like to run for mayor of the city of Chicago."

He added, "That's always been an aspiration of mine even when I was in the House of Representatives."

There were conflicting reports over the last few months about whether he actually wanted to run for the Windy City's top job.

Richard Daley is set to surpass his father as the longest serving mayor if he sees out his current term, which expires next year. Some reports suggest he plans to run again, which means Emanuel would be looking at a 2015 bid.

Emanuel, a former aide to Daley, also told Rose that he no longer was interested in becoming speaker of the House.

Oh man... Daley is gonna LOVE this (probably NOT!). If he goes back to Chicago I think it will be due to Obama wanting a man in Chicago with power to run his ops there (and cover up any loose ends...). Daley, I don’t think, will give that up easily even if Mrs. Daley is sick.

Good Lord, if this evil piece of work comes back to Chicago, I'm packin’ up the wagon, like they did during the Dust Bowl of the 30s, and I'm headin’ for parts unknown. Hopefully, Emanuel will be tried, convicted and sentenced for SOMETHING before the wagon pulls out.

Rahm Emanuel: ‘I would like to run for mayor of Athens, Greece because I like their financial methods.’

Wow, we aren’t furious at wall street, we are furious at GOVERNMENT which created the potential corruption IN Wall Street. We are pissed off at the back room deals Wall Street and the government make at OUR expense.

LOL Man do they have it back ass wards. We are most pissed off at Government for sure. And if we are pissed at wall street its because they are in the pockets of the government, feeding at the public trough, and the meal is our hard earned dollars.

I am surprised they don’t get this.

"Run Away! Run Awaaaay!"

Does this mean Rahm the Necromancer won't be accompanying King Obama at the end of the movie when the King and the remnants of the O-Table all get arrested?

Awe. I always look forward to that part of the film.

All those aldermen reporting to and serving under a ......JEW?!!!

LOL, entertaining to watch, but improbable. Besides, Mrs. Daly could sit at the breakfast table dead for a month, before her death would be acknowleged and then Richie would take a week off for mourning and be back at the office the next day.

Richie isn't giving up his power anytime soon. Unless he's the one that happens to die at the breakfast table, of course.

So long as Daley is around, why even BOTHER having mayoral elections in Chicago? His (s)election is guaranteed every time.

Is Rahm Mulling A Run For Mayor?
The Chicagoist ^ | January 5, 2010 | Marcus Gilmer

Posted on Tuesday, January 05, 2010 10:24:55 AM by maggief

It’s an interesting question being asked this morning thanks to Sally Quinn’s column in today’s Washington Post. The column begins reflecting on the revelation of a third uninvited guest who sneaked into November’s state dinner and the ensuing mess this has cause the Secret Service and the White House. Quinn then turns the column to a discussion of the current White House power structure which leads to the inevitable Chicago connections, including White House social secretary Desirée Rogers and Chief-of-Staff Rahm Emanuel. It’s a this point that Quinn drops this paragraph on us:

Emanuel, the most political animal in this town, also should understand that keeping Rogers on as social secretary reflects upon the president’s judgment. It’s possible that he has other considerations. Emanuel is said to have told people that the chief-of-staff role is an 18-month job and that he is considering a run for mayor of Chicago. And Rogers is a major social and political player in the Windy City.

Mayor?

Shockeroo.

That is to say-—if Chicagoans are dumb enough to elect him.

The good news——he’s leaving the WH.

Would that be under his own power? LOL.

Ram Manual thinks Chicago will remaiin a place in need of thug politicians.

Fact is that AMeerica has had enough if them. Thats why Daley is unlikelyto run. The thig era is over. And Ram wouldn't stand a chance against the black man who will run against him.

Even if Maggie passes, I think Daley stays in. What else would he do to pass the time? And Rahm would be a dizazter for the city. He’s just way nasty, even for this town. Let him run Philly.
