NEW YORK – A judge sentenced Michael Douglas' son to five years in prison Tuesday for dealing methamphetamine from a trendy Manhattan hotel, calling it his "last chance to make it."

U.S. District Judge Richard M. Berman announced the sentence after hearing 31-year-old Cameron Douglas ask for mercy as his Academy Award-winning father and mother, Diandra, listened behind him in a packed courtroom.

"I'd like to apologize to my family and my loved ones for putting them through this nightmare of my making," Douglas said.

The Hollywood scion and admitted heroin addict also was ordered to forfeit $300,000. A pre-sentence report listed his net worth as $500,000.

So with good time and over crowding he is looking at what 18 months?

This is federal court - he’ll serve most of that sentence.

The havoc that meth and herion do..we should be hanging them like Singapore. That would make it into a even trade. Destroy lives and we will take yours. It works.

These people (children of stars) are such messes. Maybe he’ll get clean when he’s in prison, maybe not.

Prison could be a good thing for him. Know any meth heads? Find them sweet, loveable druggies? Cute dopey stoners?

How about jaws rotting away and teeth falling out, people looking 30 years older than they are, no behavior control, homicidal behavior...well, I think you get the picture. He’s lucky he’s getting a second chance.

Meth is pure evil. There needs to be a real war on it.

In Federal Court the law requires a prisoner to serve something like 90% of the actual sentence (the minimum sentence,at least). So it looks like 4 years plus here.

Chet 99,
Douglass was selling heroin.
Wait til your kid is on heroin or a neighbors kid who robs you, your family or home to pay for their habit pal.
