...A black guy walks into a tea party, and a white lady says to him, "You know, we don't get many African-Americans in here." The black guy replies, "And at these prices, it's no wonder!"
The joke, at least as we originally heard it, involves a kangaroo and a bartender. The news report, brought to our attention by the fellows at NewsBusters.org, involved NBC reporter Kelly O'Donnell and tea-party activist Darryl Postell. O'Donnell approached Postell at a Washington rally, and hilarity ensued...
Imagine Kelly O'Donnell questioning a black man in a largely white company or university or country club or suburb the way she interrogated Darryl Postell. She would come off as clueless and prejudiced--as, come to think of it, she does.
The political left claims to love racial diversity, but it bitterly opposes such diversity on the political right. This is an obvious matter of political self-interest: Since 1964, blacks have voted overwhelmingly Democratic. If Republicans were able to attract black votes, the result would be catastrophic for the Democratic Party. Even in 2008, the Democrats' best presidential year since '64, if the black vote had been evenly split between the parties (and holding the nonblack vote constant), Barack Obama would have gotten about 48% of the vote and John McCain would be president.
To keep blacks voting Democratic, it is necessary for the party and its supporters to keep alive the idea that racism is prevalent in America and to portray the Republican Party (as well as independent challengers to the Democrats, such as the tea-party movement) as racist. The election of Barack Obama made nonsense of the idea that America remains a racist country and thereby necessitated an intensifying of attacks on the opposition as racist.

Taranto’s daily “Best of the Web” column is a must read!
Sharpton doesn’t get paid unless theirs some “racism” out there that needs pimpin’
Glenn Beck had Dr Alveda King on his show tonight. In my opinion, she’s a beautiful example of why the democrats are becoming increasingly desperate.
Blacks are like crack cocaine to the democrat party and the supply is showing signs of drying up.
Without racism, the left would cease to exist. IMHO
Sharpton gets paid every time he's on Fox News. He's not oiling up his mullet and getting in his best basketweave loafers for nothing.
I should have said “without the threat of racism as an argument.” My bad.
O’Reilly just asked Charles Krauthammer whether he believed that the Democratic Party leadership was deliberately using accusations of white racism to keep blacks voting the Democratic ticket. O’Reilly just couldn’t believe that the Democrats would do a thing like that.
If anyone ever needed an example of how treacherous Bill O’Reilly is, tonight should settle the matter. He is going to defend Obama no matter what the cost.
I don’t think O’Reilly is treacherous. I think his defense of Obama has a “Some of my best friends are black” ring to it.
Hopefully he’s just playing devil’s advocate.

Bill and Barry are both Harvard guys. Can’t speak ill of a fellow alumnus, now, can we?
I’ve stated this here at FR recently and I’ll say
it again. The Democrat party is a collection of
disparate groups with some common interests. That
makes it easier for the Sharptons, Jacksons, and
Dysons to preach to the masses how none of them
are going to make it unless they do it as a group
under the leadership of the plantation foremen
who happen to be people like Sharpton, Jackson,
and Michael E. Dyson.
Republicans don’t really have the same attitude
about groups. At least I don’t. We tend to focus
on people as individuals. We place more impor-
tance on what people are like as individuals.
Do they think like we do? If they don’t are
they pretty nice people anyway? And, I think we
tend to attract the kind of black Americans who
we believe think like individuals instead of
going along with the race baiters version of
the world.
Things won’t change very much any time soon.
We’re not about to change our beliefs and
the simplicity of the other side’s “group
think” is too much of a magnet for us to attract
many African-Americans. Still, we appreciate
the fact that there seems to be more and
more reasonable people willing to think
outside the racial box.
IT IS ABOUT DAMN TIME!
But they can't. Tea Parties ROCK!
It amazes me that anyone is “shocked” by the lack of blacks at tea parties. The current occupant of the White House has 97% support of the black community which represents approximately 12.4% of the US population, or about 38,000,000 total. The 3% that don’t support the president only leaves about 1,100,000 blacks IN THE ENTIRE UNITED STATES that could possibly come out to the tea parties.
The issue should be, as the writer correctly points out, why are 97% of blacks supporters of the current occupant of the White House.
Now if instead of a tea party they had a malt liquor party...
Proving that O'Reilly just got off the turnip truck...
You could be right, but O’Reilly is much farther to the left than he is perceived to be.
Ha! I had the same thought, but there is just too much that O’Reilly has done that seems sneaky left for me to give him that benefit of the doubt.
