TAPPER: Do you -- does the administration have an opinion on those in Wall Street who say that these -- this action you're proposing with derivatives would cost them hundreds of millions, if not a billion, dollars to take those steps?
GIBBS: Well, look, again, I think that we have to figure out a way, and the president believes that bringing activities like this out of the dark and into an exchange that's regulated is a commonsense step that prevents the potential for a set of risky decisions to be made that -- that no one but taxpayers bear responsibility for. I think that is -- that's what animates the president's decision-making on this, and I think it will animate the Senate's decision-making on passing financial reform.

Would have been great if he would have followed up with “Why do the taxpayers need to be responsible for these irresponsible companies?”.
Gibbs should be forced to diagram that sentence.
I think the transcript is missing a number of “uuhs” in Gibbs answer. ;)
He’s taken over Ted Kennedy’s position as the most “uh”-babbling chubbo in DC.
Gibbs could find his own a$$ in the dark if you gave him two hands, a map and a flashlight.........
As I was reading the thread, I was thinking what a bunch of nonsensical rubbish he had spewed. Your post made me laugh out loud.
Gibbs said a whole lot of nothing.
Once again, the producers will bail out the non-producers.
He’s particularly good at that bureaucracy-speak. I look at these goofy reporters listening to him, and I lose even more respect for them. Why don’t they just freakin say “English, please?”
I completely support getting these derivatives onto an exchange. And require posting of collateral so we - the taxpayer - don’t have to bail out another AIG.
Gibbs is superb at spouting gibberish and the remarkable thing is that he does it without a teleprompter.
100% bond, please.
Ya know, for a few fleeting weeks I thought Jake Tapper had a pair going up against Hussein.
Now, he and the rest of the White House media are just suckups. They’re pansies, afraid to hit back at the commies.
