... because the generals who rule the country are mistakenly fearful of an American intervention.

Seems to me the fears are well founded, especially if the ruling generals are determined to obtain nuclear capability.

And we can’t get an asset in there to see what is going on?

Burma is ‘owned’ by China, so they may be using the Burmese as a surrogate.....for what, I dunno, but it can’t be good.
