At the dawn of the last century it was known as "slipping a mickey" — serving someone a drugged drink, then robbing them.
Now, police suspect some women of putting a modern twist on an old crime. In four instances involving six men across Broward and Palm Beach counties, flirtatious women, singly or in pairs, have slipped drugged drinks to older men, robbing them of more than $50,000 in jewelry and cash.
Police in Palm Beach Shores, a small coastal town, are taking the lead in investigating the robberies, one of which occurred in their jurisdiction. The fear, Detective Paul Liccardo said, is that a victim could overdose on the drugs, similar to date rape drugs.
"The wrong dose . . . can be lethal," he said. Such an instance "could turn this into a homicide."

Palm Beach Shores is an ok place, but it is also just a step up from a double-wide trailer park development. To the north is Singer Island, where there are high rise condos. To the south is Peanut Island and Palm Beach. To the west is Riviera Beach (the murder capital of the Free World).
No point really, but Palm Beach Shores isn’t what some reading this story might think it is. The only place to go out near there are hotel bars and the mall on Singer Island.
Singer Island is not a municipality. A coworker used to take great delight in asking people who used Singer Island as their residence, “You know you live in Riviera Beach?”

The description sounds like one of the barflies I knew in the Seventies, who moved to Florida.
Unfortunately, society seems to be tipping the scales. At the recent KBIS (Kitchen & Bath Industry Show) in Chicago, both the pavilion models and young designers in attendance seemed to appear a bit zaftig.
20 years ago, the young gals at KBIS, whether handing out literature or visiting the pavilions and booths, were all pretty shapely. In fact, one of the models at McCormick Place was a body double for the actress Kelly Lynch.
The only advantage of never having had a woman do a “double take” on me — indeed, the more typical reaction is a lightning-quick aversion of her eyes — is that I know that any woman approaching me on her own would be up to no good.
Men drug the women to have sex with them and women drug men to steal their money! What a racket! Why don’t they just get these people together?
