Breaking: Senate Democrats Gather In The Rules Committee To Eliminate The Filibuster

The radicals in Washington are giving the Marxists in Venezuela a run for their money.

Senate Democrats have gathered in the Rules Committee to eliminate the filibuster.

Republican.Senate.Gov reported:

THEN-SEN. BARACK OBAMA (D-IL): “What [The American People] Do Not Expect Is For One Party, Be It Republican Or Democrat, To Change The Rules In The Middle Of The Game So They Can Make All The Decisions While The Other Party Is Told To Sit Down And Keep Quiet.” “What they do not expect is for one party, be it Republican or Democrat, to change the rules in the middle of the game so they can make all the decisions while the other party is told to sit down and keep quiet. The American people want less partisanship in this town, but everyone in this Chamber knows that if the majority chooses to end the filibuster, if they choose to change the rules and put an end to democratic debate, then the fighting, the bitterness, and the gridlock will only get worse.” (Sen. Obama, Congressional Record, S.3512, 4/13/05)

THEN-SEN. JOE BIDEN (D-DE): “I Pray God When The Democrats Take Back Control, We Don’t Make The Kind Of Naked Power Grab You Are Doing.” (Sen. Biden, Congressional Record, S.5737, 5/23/05)

SEN. HARRY REID (D-NV): “The Need To Muster 60 Votes In On Executive Power And Part Of Every Senator’s Right To Free Speech In The United States Senate.” (Sen. Harry Reid, “Reid Floor Statement On Nuclear Option,” Press Release, 5/17/05)

SEN. CHUCK SCHUMER (D-NY) On Any Threat To The Filibuster: “The Basic Makeup Of Our Senate Is At Stake. The Checks And Balances That Americans Prize Are At Stake. The Idea Of Bipartisanship, Where You Have To Come Together And Can’t Just Ram Everything Through Because You Have A Narrow Majority, Is At Stake. The Very Things We Treasure And Love About This Grand Republic Are At Stake.” (Sen. Schumer, Congressional Record, S.4801, 5/10/05)

• SCHUMER: “We Are On The Precipice Of A Crisis, A Constitutional Crisis. The Checks And Balances Which Have Been At The Core Of This Republic Are About To Be Evaporated By The Nuclear Option. The checks and balances which say that if you get 51% of the vote you don’t get your way 100% of the time. It is amazing it’s almost a temper tantrum by those on the hard right. They want their way every single time, and they will change the rules, break the rules, misread the Constitution so they will get their way.” (Sen. Schumer, Congressional Record, S.5208, 5/16/05)

SEN. ROBERT BYRD (D-WV): “I Believe That Efforts To Change Or Reinterpret The Rules In Order To Facilitate Expeditious Action By A Simple Majority, While Popular, Are Grossly Misguided.” (“Sen. Byrd Calls Proposed Democratic Changes To Filibuster Rules ‘Misguided,’” The Hill, 2/24/10)

SEN. CHRIS DODD (D-CT): “‘I Totally Oppose The Idea Of Changing Filibuster Rules,’ Dodd Said During An Appearance On MSNBC. ‘That’s Foolish, In My View.’” (“Dodd: Changing Filibuster Rules Would Be ‘Foolish,’” The Hill, 2/17/10)

SEN. DIANNE FEINSTEIN (D-CA): “Blinded By Political Passion, Some Are Willing To Unravel Our Government’s Fundamental Principle Of Checks And Balances To Break The Rules And Discard Senate Precedent. The nuclear option, if successful, will turn the Senate into a body that could have its rules broken at any time by a majority of Senators unhappy with any position taken by the minority. It begins with judicial nominations. Next will be executive appointments, and then legislation.” (Sen. Feinstein, Congressional Record, S.5398, 5/18/05)

SEN. RICHARD DURBIN (D-IL): “Those Who Would Attack And Destroy The Institution Of The Filibuster Are Attacking The Very Force Within The Senate That Creates Compromise And Bipartisanship.” (Sen. Richard Durbin, Congressional Record, 4/15/05, p.S3763)

• DURBIN: The Filibuster Is “[One] Of The Most Treasured And Cherished Traditions Of The United States Senate.” “Many of us in the Senate feel that this agreement tonight means that some of the most treasured and cherished traditions of the United States Senate will be preserved, will not be attacked and will not be destroyed.” (Sen. Durbin, “Statement of Sen. Dick Durbin Regarding the Agreement on Judicial Nominations in the Senate,” Press Release, 5/23/05)

SEN. BEN NELSON (D-NE): “Filibusters … Give Small States Such As Nebraska An Important Tool To Protect Itself From The Will Of The Larger States.” “Filibusters also give small States such as Nebraska an important tool to protect itself from the will of the larger States.” (Sen. Nelson, Congressional Record, S.5917, 5/25/05)

SEN. MARK PRYOR (D-AR): “I Was Very Concerned That When You Looked At The Nuclear Option, If That Trigger Was Pulled, You Had A Nuclear Winter That Would Follow.” “But in a broader sense, I did this agreement for them because I was very concerned that when you looked at the nuclear option, if that trigger was pulled, you had a nuclear winter that would follow.” (Sen. Pryor, Congressional Record, S.6000, 5/26/05)

This is like the thief that knows he is about to be arrested so he continues to commit crimes with a “oh what the h*ll" attitude.

It reminds me of the scene in the movie Broken Arrow, when John Travolta is playing a mercenary whose gone totally nuts and hijacked a bunch of nukes. At one point he is standing in front of a nuclear weapon looking at it and you can just see him lose the last bit of his sanity as he says "F@#% them if they can't take a joke!" and then activates the weapon with a timer set for 5 minutes.

Same situation here. Harry Reid is filling in for John Travolta here.

“JAM IT DOWN AS QUICK AS THEY CAN. This is what America wants according to RATS.”

They’ve been jamming down so fast everyone’s head is spinning! But, it isn’t what average America wants and they know it. They hope to have us so tied down by the end of their reign that we can’t ever get loose. HA! These goons don’t have a clue what makes real America tick. All they are doing at this point is pi**ing us off worse. As the saying goes, “payback is a b*tch!”

American rising....11/2010!!!!

Sorry for the language.....sometimes I just can’t take anymore without a few of those four letter words:)

“I’m curious what their end game is? Perhaps they think they need to jettison the filibuster to pass Amnesty and Cap and Trade. “

BINGO!!!

Think about it. IF amnesty passes, it will need to be done LONG before November. They will need time to make citizens of the illegals and register them. How many months do they need to have enough votes to keep their power?

They are running out of time. They need to do this NOW.

THAT is why this is happening. To prevent the American People from being ABLE to vote these commie loving traitors out.

Not necessarily....remember they accuse us of what they do.

Remember the accusation that we manipulate the voting machines?????

They own the banks now, remember Same company that makes the voting machines is one of the banks biggest vendors. Which means they are now one of this government’s vendors.

Food for thought.

That certainly would not be out of the realm of possibility.

But to give themselves cover they will need to get Amnesty done soon. They don’t want to be TOO obvious.

I am going to call my two dimWit senators tomorrow and read that entire roll call of dimWits & comments by the dimWits a few years ago whey THEY were in the minority. I hope that Repubs go on a massive campaign against the socialist bastards seeking to destroy America by their totalitarian designs.

In 1917, at the urging of Progressive Woodrow Wilson, the Senate adopted the Cloture rule to cut off endless Filibustering — with a two-thirds vote — for the first time ever. Woodrow Wilson did this after meeting resistance from a block of 12 Senators who did not want to enter the Great War, dismissing the dozen Senators as a “little group of willful men.”

In 1975, Progressive Walter Mondale (who later served as Vice President under Progressive Jimmy Carter) successfully led the effort to reduce the vote required for Cloture from two-thirds (67 votes) to three-fifths (60 votes).

In 2010, as Progressive Barack Obama meets resistance from his opposition, the Democratic Senate leadership wish to "repeal" Rule 22 and COMPLETELY end the rule of Filibuster. In essence, EVERY piece of Obama's Legislation would end in the Nuclear Option (51 votes), with the Democrats ruling the Senate by a simple majority to continue to pass ALL of Obama's Agenda ... as long as the Democrats don't LOSE the Senate in November.

From a historical perspective, it's OBVIOUS of how DANGEROUS Progressive Liberals are to this Republic, the Constitution and to the People they are elected to serve.
When they don't get their way, they simply change the rules.

Which is why they must be swept away starting in November 2010 ... once and for all.

The Senate is a continuing body, with only a third being chosen every two years. So the rule remains in effect if the Republicans get a majority.

Use the same dubious tactics used by the Democrats. But as long as Obama has the veto, we have —at best gridlock. ASSUMING we Republicans have a majority and assuming they can stick together, it will come down to a budget fight. Defunding the programs.

Oh joy, we get to roll back amnesty and Crap and Trade too.

Amnesty is not going to save their sorry butts 6 months from now when they lose both houses of Congress. It’s going to be hornet nest the Rats run into this fall.

When Republicans take over, do NOT repeal this.

They will - which sucks.

But they shouldn’t.

If they eliminate the filibuster now, they won’t have it when they are in the minority.
