Liberals and the Violence Card
The Wall Street Journal ^ | 04-23-10 | RUSH LIMBAUGH

Posted on 04/22/2010 5:38:20 PM PDT by GOP_Lady

Conservative protest is motivated by a love of what America stands for.

The latest liberal meme is to equate skepticism of the Obama administration with a tendency toward violence. That takes me back 15 years ago to the time President Bill Clinton accused "loud and angry voices" on the airwaves (i.e., radio talk-show hosts like me) of having incited Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh. What self-serving nonsense. Liberals are perfectly comfortable with antigovernment protest when they're not in power.

From the halls of the Ivy League to the halls of Congress, from the antiwar protests during the Vietnam War and the war in Iraq to the anticapitalist protests during International Monetary Fund and World Bank meetings, we're used to seeing leftist malcontents take to the streets. Sometimes they're violent, breaking shop windows with bricks and throwing rocks at police. Sometimes there are arrests. Not all leftists are violent, of course. But most are angry. It's in their DNA. They view the culture as corrupt and capitalism as unjust.

Mr. Obama and his party believe that the election of November 2008 entitled them to make permanent, "transformational" changes to our society. In just 16 months they've added more than $2 trillion to the national debt, essentially nationalized the health-care system, the student-loan industry, and have their sights set on draconian cap-and-trade regulations on carbon emissions and amnesty for illegal aliens. Had President Obama campaigned on this agenda, he wouldn't have garnered 30% of the popular vote.

Like the millions of citizens who've peacefully risen up and attended thousands of rallies in protest, I seek nothing more than the preservation of the social contract that undergirds our society. I do not hate the government, as the left does when it is not running it. I love this country. And because I do, I insist that the temporary inhabitants of high political office comply with the Constitution, honor our God-given unalienable rights, and respect our hard-earned private property. For this I am called seditious, among other things, by some of the very people who've condemned this society?

Liberals are perfectly comfortable with VIOLENT anti-government protest ...

How many ROTC buildings have the Tea Partiers burned? How many cops have they shot? How many banks have they robbed or courtrooms have they invaded? How many conservative militias has Patty Hearst joined? Is Bobby Seale forming a Tea Party chapter in Oakland?

For the Left to preach about violent protest is so hypocritical it could only come from ... the Left.

I agree with those that equate the Leftist sycophants to psyche-impaired, underdeveloped mental midgets. What makes the Left so powerful are those that recognize their impairment, and take advantage of their naivety to manipulate them as forces of their own. The masses of dorks that perpetrate the violence are lead by the Leftist criminal minds.

The Left is comprised of criminals, and must be not only eliminated from centers of power, but incarcerated, and kept from accessing centers of power. It’s become quite obvious as to why.

Just for fun, go to Google images and search "Kill Bush"--you'll see page after page after page of images of liberal protesters and their VIOLENT signs.

Now try Google images with the search words "Kill Obama", to see how many TEA Partiers/Town Hallers carried signs inciting violence against the president. You will be surprised! I looked through *35* pages, and guess how many images showed those words???

NONE. NOT ONE SINGLE IMAGE.

Not a single TEA party protester. Not a single participant in the Town Halls last summer. Not one.

Now which is the party of HATE SPEECH and VIOLENCE??

A clear majority of the American people want no part of this. They [We] instinctively know that the Obama way is not how things get done in this country. They [We]y are motivated by love. Not hate, not sedition. They [We] love their country and want to save it from those who do not.
I have long believed that the Preamble to the Constitution
We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
was an expression of love. To me the central phrase, the bumper sticker, the Mission Statement of the preamble and thus of the Constitution as a whole is,
secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity
It is the lens through which everything else should be seen and understood. It is the theme around which Americans are unified and the hill upon which we aspire, if necessary, to die. It is an expression of love.

It is not an expression of exclusion; even as we demand that our national sovereignty be protected it is not even an expression of exclusion of the citizens of other countries. Because not only Americans but foreigners fit the definition of "posterity" of the framers of the Constitution.

It is often said that other countries "don't have the Constitution," but of course they do. It is a secret to nobody. They lack a tradition of submission to the Constitution by their leaders - but they do have the Constitution, and the example of what can be the fruits of respecting it. It can make a country which becomes the envy of the world. Even if, Heaven forefend, President Obama succeeds fully in "changing" America, the "Great Experiment" has already been conducted, and the results have been seen. Knowledge of those results, like the history of Rome, will endure.

When did Saint Jack become a national hero?

Before or after he gave away our nuclear deterrent in Turkey?

"It is often said that other countries "don't have the Constitution," but of course they do. It is a secret to nobody. They lack a tradition of submission to the Constitution by their leaders - but they do have the Constitution"

Most democracies have a constitution. However, a lot of them follow the British/Blackstone/English Common Law model of rights in their constitution/laws. That is that rights are there, but they can be changed by the parliment/legislature. Our founders respected and revered Blackstone, but in this instance, they followed the Vattel model. That is that our rights are inalienable and are written down in a Constitution and not to be changed by future legislative bodies or executives.

Truly outstanding commentary and explanation of the Tea Party movement's motivation and validation by Maha Rushdie.

Like the millions of citizens who've peacefully risen up and attended thousands of rallies in protest, I seek nothing more than the preservation of the social contract that undergirds our society.

I love this country. And because I do, I insist that the temporary inhabitants of high political office comply with the Constitution, honor our God-given unalienable rights, and respect our hard-earned private property.

I believe America is the solution to the world's problems. I reject a foreign policy that treats our allies like our enemies and our enemies like our allies.

A clear majority of the American people ... instinctively know that the Obama way is not how things get done in this country. They are motivated by love. Not hate, not sedition. They love their country and want to save it from those who do not.

If the left succeeds in driving us to violence, they won’t need to fabricate a false illusion - there’ll be no mistaking what took place.

The point is,

the left can NEVER “win” if a logical discussion of the issues, and the consequences of policies were analyzed in a reasonable manner.

In fact, what we’re seeing is the need to NOT actually discuss the issues.

If you want proof of that, go read the comments section of the article....I just read them all. The moonbat posts are either name-calling, or regurgitated leftisms, but zero substance. Many are just to rant at the WSJ for having the audacity to publish an opinion piece by Rush.
