In an interview with CNBC’s John Harwood on Wednesday, President Obama refused to rule out the imposition of a value added tax (VAT) on Americans.
On Tuesday, Obama's economic adviser Austen Goolsbee refused six consecutive opportunities to do the same when repeatedly questioned by journalist Mark Halperin.
In fact, the White House has never ruled out the possibility of a VAT, which may explain why the president is now attempting to alter the terms of his central campaign promise.
During his campaign, the president made a “firm pledge” that no family making less than $250,000 per year would see “any form of tax increase.” But in plain sight, Obama now claims his promise applied only to “income taxes.” In his April 10 Weekly Radio Address, Obama said:
“And one thing we have not done is raise income taxes on families making less than $250,000. That’s another promise we’ve kept.”

So we have millions of struggling families who are still working and paying taxes..but living pay check to pay check. And suddenly they see the prices go up by 10-15% due to a federal tax. Do you think they aren’t going to notice? The only thing good about this tax is that it a regressive tax on the poor..so finally they may have some skin in the game.

Don't be so sure. The damned communists will probably write it with the Fair Tax prebate in it so we effectively pay the poor to buy stuff.
Wow me and my wife made 190000 and guess what? We paid 60000 in taxes between our income and wifes bonus... I hate liars...

I can only wonder and what new schemes Obama has in store for us the next two years. I’m honestly to the point where few things would surprise me. I half expect a push to require IRA’s be at least partially converted to Federal ‘Guaranteed Retirement Accounts’ (ala Teresa Ghilarducci) in the next few months.
There’s an awfully lot of money in those IRA’s, you know. Money that our esteemed leader can ‘invest’ for us... /scary thought.

All that bailout money to keep people in McMansions they can’t afford and to ensure the banksters get their zillions in bonuses, has to come from somewhere.
So they simply impose higher taxes on the rest of us to pay for it.

Now that’s just ridiculous. He’d never do that. The FairTax prebate, after all, is automatically sent to everyone.
The Obamabate will not be for everyone — just those that didn’t owe any income tax in the previous year.
It is time for a strike by business owners.

No, not exactly. The poor and/or lower class will be able to file a form on their income taxes and receive a “refund” of all they spent in VAT the previous year.

The fact that FUBO the Rats are talking about VAT is worrisome. They sent up a trial balloon to see who and how many shoot it down. I have no doubt FUBO will ultimately try to ram it down our throats just as he did DeathCare.
