Retired Army general: Lt. Col. Lakin has 'valid point'

A retired Army general and national security policy expert says Lt. Col. Terry Lakin has "a valid point" and should use his "right to discovery" to force the Obama administration to produce proof of his natural-born citizenship status.

In an interview with Evil Conservative Radio, Maj. Gen. Paul Vallely said, "I think many in the military – and many out of the military – question the natural-birth status of Barack Obama. … I'm not convinced that he is [a natural-born citizen]."

Vallely, CEO of Stand Up America U.S., graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and was commissioned in the Army in 1961, serving 32 years.

He said he inspected his own long-form birth certificate, and it contains a doctor's name, date and location of birth.

"But he's never been able to produce that," he said of Obama. "His unwillingness to do it also concerns me. I think Lt. Col. Lakin has a valid point. … He refuses to produce a birth certificate that states the witnessing of the birth, the date and who is the doctor. We don't know why he won't come out with that."

Retired Army general: Lt. Col. Lakin has 'valid point' 'He has right to discovery. Producing birth certificate is very important'

From the article:

Asked whether Lakin will have a "right of discovery" during a court-martial – meaning Lakin's legal team could compel the administration to produce proof of eligibility during the course of the government's prosecution – Vallely replied, "Absolutely. Sure, he has a right to discovery. There's no doubt about that. Producing a birth certificate that has all the details on it, it seems to me, is very important."

Vallely added, "You can call witnesses. I would call the state government of Hawaii. I would require [proof of] which hospital he was born in. I'd want verification from the doctor or the nurse or whomever witnessed it that, in fact, it did happen in Hawaii. That has not been done to date. These are questions that have not been answered, and that's what concerns many people."

The thought occurred to me the other day that it's not only his citizenship status that would be settled by a BC, but truth is, we don't even know if he's really 45-years-old as the Constitution requires. He probably is, but you never know.

"...We don't know why he won't come out with that."

Well, I do! He will not produce one because there is none to produce. He is not "A natural born citizen" of the United States of America.

None of that is required to prove citizenship. If Obama was required to produce anything (and this is highly unlikely), the COLB he's already shown would be sufficient.

I would bet anything that when they try and force that through discover it wont be permitted and ruled as not relevant to the charges. The ruling will say that regardless of his personal motivation for failing to report as ordered, that doesn’t excuse his actions and it wont be allowed. Bet on it!

It is sufficient to show he's NOT a Natural Born Citizen.

It says pretty clearly that he was born in the United States.

The minimum requirement is 35-years-old.

That does not matter, he is the Commander in Chief, Orders were issued by others and not him, so he does not need to show it.

Because this misguided person is wrong does not mean the president has to be burden with this nonsense. And what does this former general even know? I am being sarcastic!!!!!!!, but follow similar posting of this type, and you will read most of the above. That this people are willing to put it all on the line, leads many to believe that frankly, they are nuts.

In response to the conjecture that all he needs to prove citizenship is a (forged) COLB - Just a COLB? Really? so Obama has spent close to 2 MILLION to hide what he doesn’t need to hide? I don’t THINK so... Natural born citizen has distinct legal requirements - all of which are probably moot because he was legally adopted in Indonesia and DID NOT file for US Ccitizenship at age 18. THere is much more here than meets the eye, methinks...

Constitutional requirement is 35 years old. I think the youngest was TR, 42 when he took over from McKinley.

Does this mean the Lt. Col. Lakin has “standing”? So many others were ruled to have lacked standing.

The BC only settles half of the Natural Born Citizen status requirement, the "born in the country" part. It also establishes who his father was. More evidence would be required to demonstrate that his father was or was not a US Citizen at the time. (He was not then, nor ever, a US Citizen)

This “It is sufficient to show he’s NOT a Natural Born Citizen.”
is the most important issue and one which seems to get shoved aside.
What is the definition of Natrual Born citizen as outlined in our constitution?
It seems pretty clear a Natural Born citizen is one born to 2 US citizens. odumbo is not

But if it turns out here wasn’t born in HI then he wasn’t even a US citizen under the laws in 1961.

It says pretty clearly that he was born in the United States.

That's criteria 1. But the CoLB also shows his father as Barack Hussein Obama, who we know was not a US citizen at the time of Jr.'s birth, or ever for that matter. Having US citizen parents is criteria 2.
