Hayworth pleased Brewer signed immigration bill
KTAR ^ | April 23rd, 2010 | KTAR

Posted on 04/23/2010 4:38:36 PM PDT by mdittmar

PHOENIX - Former Congressman J.D. Hayworth welcomes the governor's signature on the new illegal immigration law.

He released this statement to the media: "The Governor did the right thing by signing Senate Bill 1070 into law. It mirrors the 'Enforcement First Act' I authored five years ago in the United States House of Representatives. As John McCain and others serving in Washington have alternated between inaction and amnesty, Arizona acted decisively today to enforce the rule of law and truly secure our border."

Hayworth is challenging Senator John McCain for McCain's U.S. Senate seat in the Republican primary.

He has criticized McCain for his previous attempts to pass comprehensive immigration reform by working with the late Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy.

So the Palin fans get to choose which 2008 policies were the real Sarah and which were the policies she just decided to sit down and shut up on McCain’s behalf.

Get real pissant.
McCain would have advanced Sarah's belief in energy independence, among her other beliefs.
Things like immigration and the bailouts were simply out of her control.
I bet though, had McCain forced amnesty, Sarah would have protested after watching millions of Americans oppose it. You know how she is.

“Isn't Romney tougher on illegal immigration than Palin? Tancredo backed Romney.”

Mitten's stand on immigration will change daily depending on what he thinks will bring the most votes. Palin hasn't had illegals landscaping her lawn; Romney has.

You mean like the one where she said she supported McCain's position on immigration, i.e., amnesty?

I actually posted that and at the bottom I put

but it did not show up in my post.

FR does not allow pointer brackets. I should have tried (runs away).

Just so I’m clear: Her global warming, amnesty, TARP, special needs welfare, predatory lenders, and equal pay for women are all just supporting McCain

You 3rd-party hacks completely don't comprehend the difference between being a part of someone's campaign and now being your own person.

Oh I see. She was willing to not be her own person and thereby sacrifice her principles during the 2008 campaign in order to become VP. That couldn't be more disingenuous.

Sarah was a part of someone else's campaign.
Palin was willing to be part of someone else's campaign. No one held a gun to her head to be McAmnesty's running mate.

There's no flip-flopping there.

There was flip flopping between her 2008 Univsion interview supporting amnesty and subsequent interviews.

If she ran for President in her own right in 2008, then yes by all means call her a flip-flopper.But if she was a part of someone's campaign, a running mate, then the point is moot.

On the contrary. It shows she willingly accepted to be the running mate of a candidate who has a track record of voting with socialists many times over the years.

You've been told a million times why she endorsed and supported McCain, and even JimRob agrees with what Sarah did. You simply don't spite the person that brought you out in the national spotlight. You pay your respects and then forge your own path, which is what Sarah is doing.

Which only exemplifies the same number of times her choice of party over principle. Paying respect by supporting a flaming socialist over a conservative candidate is not the way to advance the conservative cause. That ignores the fact she owed nothing to McAmnesty since his first choice was fellow flaming socialist Joe LIEberman.

How about this speech?

Palin On Amnesty

Governor, let me ask you about immigration. How many undocumented immigrants are there in Alaska?

I don't know, I don't know. That's a good question.

As governor, how do you deal with them? Do you think they all should be deported?

There is no way that in the US we would roundup every illegal immigrant -there are about 12 million of the illegal immigrants- not only economically is that just an impossibility but that's not a humane way anyway to deal with the issue that we face with illegal immigration.

Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants?

No, I do not. I do not. Not total amnesty. You know, people have got to follow the rules. They've got to follow the bar, and we have got to make sure that there is equal opportunity and those who are here legally should be first in line for services being provided and those opportunities that this great country provides.

To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?

I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

It would have been tacky for her to do so, which is why she obediently complied. What running mate do you know of went against the boss?

Palin was willing to be part of someone else's campaign. No one held a gun to her head to be McAmnesty's running mate.

Exactly, that's my point. She was his running mate so therefore she had to endorse his positions. That's how the game is played.

There was flip flopping between her 2008 Univsion interview supporting amnesty and subsequent interviews.

And that Univision interview has no bearing on her views today. She is her own person and is not part of anyone else's campaign or team. Again, she clarified her views on Rush and on Larson's shows.

On the contrary. It shows she willingly accepted to be the running mate of a candidate who has a track record of voting with socialists many times over the years.

Hello, McCain was the Republican nominee. When you get offered the VP slot, you just don't turn it down. But you're a 3rd party hack who doesn't believe in fighting within the existing political structure.

Which only exemplifies the same number of times her choice of party over principle.

What other RINO has Palin endorsed?
This was just a general, kiss on the cheek endorsement of McCain. If you check her summer schedule, she is going to be busy with the documentary series and doing the fishing run with Todd. She's not going to be near McCain towards the primary. She gave her thanks and that's that.

You mean when McCain actually talked about border security and Sarah basically agreed with him? When amnesty wasn't even part of the speech?

It would have been tacky for her to do so, which is why she obediently complied

It would have been tacky to support conservatism so she obediently acquiesced to a socialist point of view? No wonder why the OP(formerly the GOP) lost control of the White House and Congress to socialists.

Exactly, that's my point. She was his running mate so therefore she had to endorse his positions. That's how the game is played

You conveniently glossed over my obvious point she chose to be his running mate and in doing so was willingly agreed with those positions that he in turn has voted with socialists on many issues. She could have turned down his offer on the premise his socialist views did not coincide with her principles. Her acceptance confirmed she agreed with him.

And that Univision interview has no bearing on her views today.

Any statements by a politician always bare relevance. In her case at proves at best she changed her view to appear as though she always opposed amnesty in the hopes people would forget her 2008 interview. She used the same disingenuous tactic as McAmnesty has used for many years.

Hello, McCain was the Republican nominee. When you get offered the VP slot, you just don't turn it down.
You do if the candidates positions on issues are fundamentally different from yours.

This was just a general, kiss on the cheek endorsement of McCain.

This was just a general, kiss on the cheek endorsement of McCain.

Either a person supports a candidate or doesn't support a candidate. Palin can't have it both ways. That's tantamount to saying someone can be only a little bit pregnant. She still supports him.

You make a good point, but on this ... “like Goldman who got bailed out are his biggest contributors” ... just want to interject the factoid that OBAMA got more Goldman Sachs contributions than any other candidate. More than all the Republicans combined.

“Hello, McCain was the Republican nominee. When you get offered the VP slot, you just don’t turn it down. “

You are right.

But if Palin disagreed with McCain on issues, she had the opportunity since 2008 until this year not to endorse him and/or stay out of his Senate race and/or specifically distance herself from McCain’s record. If you have any palin quote “McCain was wrong to support amnesty, bailouts and McCain-Feingold” quotes, I’m all ears.

Frankly, her McCain support smacks to me of what Pres Bush did in endorsing Arlen Specter over Toomey in 2004.
establishment vs conservative.

And I speak as someone generally supportive of her. We can’t sweep her straddling of this issue under the rug. It’s real - she’s not solid on immigration.

“Because McCain supported it.
What part of “running mate” do you folks not understand? “

Look, a couple weeks ago she stated she’s all about McCain and supports his positions. Her words, you’ve seen them.

Is she STILL his running mate?

That is not a speech, it is the Univision Interview that the McCain Campaign sent her on in early Oct 2008. One that people with PDS, like you, love to throw around....

Univision is an Hispanic Station, and McCain’s people, former Romney Campaign workers, (ill) prepared Palin to support McCains position on ilegal immigration in front of that narrowly focused audience...... You’ll notice that Sarah, after some disjointed replies at the beginning, realizes the trap she has been led into, “Goes Rogue,” and recovers nicely to HER viewpoint....course you choose to ignore that.....didn’t ya?

(Palin) “.....It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.”

Sounds just like she said she supports “Legal immigration” doesn’t it? “People that follow the Rules! People that follow the Rules? People that follow the Rules are not illegal immigrants.....get it???????

Gee, a VP Candidate that supports the current US immigration laws? Wow! Supports the Current Law! Horrors! What a revelation! Startling isn’t it! Off with her head!/s

And you know that’s what she said, and meant, because you posted it.....( I assume you actually read it, and have some degree of reading comprehension...a fact not entirely in evidence....LOLOLOL)

So where’s the Palin SPEECH that says she supports a policy of Amnesty for Illegal Immigrants? You know something more than some out of context quip? Sarah is not bashful about writting out policy statements on her Face Book page...should be easy for you to find one on Amnesty that supports your contension, right? I’m waiting.....Tick Tock, Tick Tock...

Say, who is it you support? Ron Paul? Mitt Romney? Some 3rd party crackpot on the local steet corner? (Obama?.... Nah) Why don’t you post your opinion about how great they are....you know float their boat higher, instead of infecting Palin threads?

AHHH, I get it! It’s more fun for you to shoot at Palin and try and sink her boat......fat chance there, given your tactic of misquotes, misrepresentation of facts, out right deception.......on and on etc,... that all, except the most unaware/biased, see right through it.........LOLOLOLOLOLOL

LOLOLOLOL You’re funny! LOLOLOLOLOL

Say wait a minute.... you don’t think I’m dumb enough to believe your stuff, do ya? How insulting! LOLOLOLOL
