A cruise missile in a shipping box on sale to rogue bidders

Defence experts are warning of a new danger of ballistic weapons proliferation after a Russian company started marketing a cruise missile that can be launched from a shipping container.

It is feared that the covert Club-K missile attack system could prove "game-changing" in fighting wars with small countries, which would gain a remote capacity to mount multiple missiles on boats, trucks or railways.

Iran and Venezuela have already shown an interest in the Club-K Container Missile System which could allow them to carry out pre-emptive strikes from behind an enemy's missile defences.

Defence experts say the system is designed to be concealed as a standard 40ft shipping container that cannot be identified until it is activated.

Priced at an estimated £10 million, each container is fitted with four cruise anti-ship or land attack missiles. The system represents an affordable "strategic level weapon".

Some experts believe that if Iraq had the Club-K system in 2003 it would have made it impossible for America to invade with any container ship in the Gulf a potential threat.

Club-K is being marketed at the Defence Services Asia exhibition in Malaysia this week.

Novator, the manufacturer, is an advanced missile specialist that would not have marketed the system without Moscow's approval. It has released an emotive marketing film complete with dramatic background music.

It shows Club-K containers stowed on ships, trucks and trains as a neighbouring country prepares to invade with American style military equipment.

The enemy force is wiped out by the cruise missile counter attack.

Russia has already prompted concern in Washington by selling Iran the sophisticated S-300

I could even see the Russians floating nuclear tipped (and conventional) Klub K’s on their merchant marine vessels for use should they need to knock out our carrier battlegroups.

Are you serious? So, you think helping the Chechens is the solution. The Islamist Chechens who are part of the greater Al Queda network, who view the Russians and the US as different sides of the same problem. Those Chechens. The same Chechens that would kill you the same way they would kill a Russian.

Yep, the solution is to help terrorists.

A sage would say 'then lets give the Georgians what they need.' Or Poland. A non-sage would advocate for help to the Chechens.

I am curious as to what assistance you would want to go to the Chechens.

I am sure this is, somehow, going to be blamed on America... or Bush.

He probably had his investors put money into the project to develop it.

This is what we get when we let the greenies regulate energy production. The price rises, the Russians can then fund their military machine, and we pay the consequences.

I’m sort of thinking out loud here, but say we strongly suspected that Iran had gotten a hold of one of these.

The range on a cruise missile is about 600 miles (I think), so how would they be able to get it within range of the U.S.?

I doubt they’re going to be able to get it onto any major shipping line, and it’s not like rouge container ships can show up. We know where every container ship is and where it’s supposed to be going.

It’s about 3,000 miles to England, once it got past the midway in the Atlantic, we’d certainly intercept it.

In the end, it would pretty much kill any export business Iran had because of the headaches involved with moving their container cargo.

Stupidity reigns supreme with our regime. It is only a matter of time before the world slips into WWIII it is looking more and more like the only way out.

Just like WWII finally brought an end to the progressive misery during the 20’s and 30’s WWIII will bring an end to the idiot progressives this time around as well.

Hopefully enough of the idiots within our country will not forget and actually do something to protect the future our children's children.

For our children as a nation we have now failed miserably for them.

Ok... guess we’ll just have to go back to indiscriminately bombing all civilian areas.

But of course... without anti-missile defense this wouldn't have been necessary. ;-) Wait for it... it's coming.

Simple solution.

Buy a few through a broker.

Give them to the Chechens.
