Palin email witness decries 'dog and pony' prosecution

A witness who testified against the man accused of breaching Sarah Palin's Yahoo! Mail account has criticized federal prosecutors for distorting the facts in an attempt to score legal points.

Gabriel Ramuglia said the episode left him so disenchanted that he's changing the logging policy for Ctunnel.com, the anonymity proxy used to access Palin's Yahoo account while she was running for vice president in 2008. Before, he collected the IP address of each user along with the time and address of each web visit and stored it for seven days. Now, he logs the minimum required by law.

Ramuglia said he's taking the step because he believes prosecutors exaggerated entries in the log information when presenting it to the jury in the case. On several occasions, he said assistant US attorneys told him privately they wanted to "show as much commerce as possible" by emphasizing connections his proxy made to ad servers, even though his site almost always filters out their content.

In the first place, this butt head shouldn't be making any comments while the jury is still out. Second, he basically provides a service designed to facilitate illegal activity, and is complaining that prosecutors exaggerated the extent of damages the “litte butt head” caused.
Perhaps we should take into consideration the billions of dollars of damage these pimple faced hackers, who have nothing better to do than try to destroy and disrupt other peoples computers. Life should be appropriate.
I think they should both be cell mates for a long time.

I hope the Feds didn’t over-do it. Shouldn’t be taking two days for this case. His lawyers put on almost no defense.

“Shouldn’t be taking two days for this case.”

It all comes down to the jury, I guess (assuming, of course, there is one!). If they’re liberal, facts don’t matter. Justice doesn’t matter. Right and wrong don’t matter. Guy walks.

If they’re conservatives, we have more of a chance... though likely there’s a bunch of THEM who are RINOS, who will vote with the liberals because they want to be liked.

From what I’ve read, this trial is taking place in a very conservative friendly area and if I read it right, this little punk’s a** is grass...we can only hope...remember, cute Bristol got on the stand to tell of what kind of crap she got on her (I think) FB page after this little s**t hacked it...

His lawyers are nuts for taking this to trial. He admitted it ("I read though the emails… ALL OF THEM… before I posted, and what I concluded was anticlimactic, there was nothing there, nothing incriminating, nothing that would derail her campaign as I had hoped") and now his lawyers are saying it was a "prank" and he wasn't trying to mess with an election.

You were saying ...

Second, he basically provides a service designed to facilitate illegal activity ...

Ummmm..., providing anonymous access to the Internet is not designed specifically for illegal activity. It may be used for illegal activity, but it's also used for legitimate purposes and purposes that everyone has a right to secure for themselves.

Take a look at this service that has been around for quite a long time and quite a few people use it...
