Kernell, if convicted is facing as many as 50 years in prison. Some may find that harsh. Let me remind you: G.Gordon Liddy was sentenced to 20 years in prison and a $40,000 fine for his part in the Watergate affair, and he wasnt even one of those who actually broke into the DNC offices.
I doubt Kernell will get 50 years, but a strong sentence is needed in a case like this to send a message to others who would attempt this sort of nonsense. Its just sad that no one is pursuing the connection to the Obama regime. This could very well be Obamas Watergate.

The whole top echelon of the democratic party should get 50 years. 20 for the father of this scum.
“Its just sad that no one is pursuing the connection to the Obama regime. This could very well be Obamas Watergate.”
Agreed, but after this punk receives a 25 to 30 year prison sentence, he might sing like a bird. But, it might be tough, I think his daddy had him do it.
One year off for each conviction.
This guy could easily be out in less than a year.
Personal I think 50 years is way to much time. The kid should get several years a big fat fine and be prohibited from ever getting online again.
Ever hear of anonymizers? Internet cafes? Borrowing a friend's laptop? Bah!
Fifty years is about right...and start talking sonny boy, or you'll do the whole clock.
The Lefty DNC lackey should get maximum sentence for the attempt at disrupting a Presidential champaign.
I understand your point. My point is, if he gets caught more jail time. I still think 50 years sounds way to long. Many murderers don’t get that much time.
Kernell was using illegal actions in an attempt to influence a presidential election. He needs a strong sentence.
This could very well be Obamas Watergate.
Hey! I'm all for punishing this guy, but to put this on the level of a "Watergrate" event... is just stupid and idiotic.
I'm afraid that many writers of articles like to "hype their stories" (about stuff like this) by adding the word "Watergate" ... LOL ...
And for a disclaimer statement here, I'm all for Sarah Palin, and will vote for her if she runs (whatever office she runs for, and if I'm a constituent in that election).
How do you propose to stop him from ''ever getting online again''? Rotsa ruck w/that screwy notion.
Well, you may think this is a screwy notion, but it's one that is handed down in court cases... believe it or not.
And it's not much different than a judge handing down a sentence that says you can't drive. How are you going to enforce that, unless you have a policeman following the criminal around 24 hours a day? LOL ...
You can't enforce that one either, and yet they hand down that kind of sentence all the time.
How can you enforce not driving without a license? Just wondering? And I say that, because I haven't been stopped by a policeman in about five years. That was one time (five years ago) and then I was stopped probably one other time 20 years before that.
So, how would the "officials" have "enforced" a "no driving sentence" with me, with me never getting stopped by a policeman in 20 years? LOL ...
The fact of the matter is that these kinds of sentences are handed down all the time, even when you can't see any way to "enforce them" ...
Kernell was using illegal actions in an attempt to influence a presidential election. He needs a strong sentence.
Yep, I agree... he needs a strong sentence. It was not only a crime against Sarah Palin and her family -- it was a crime against the GOP and against all the GOP voters, too.
This crime had much more widespread "effect" than many other kinds of crimes.
Exactly...they may not be able to monitor him at all times, but, they can sure as heck lower the boom on him if they catch him.
As always, when one subsidises anything, whether sloth or petty crime or -- as in the case of this young fellow from Tennessee -- considerably more serious crime, one will get more of it, not less, in future.
This gent needs to be hammered by the law as a positive disincentive against others repeating his actions. The fact that he is ''well-connected'' will increase the disincentive effect, too.
If I were Zero, I'd be sweating over Blagojevich, not this twerp.
Here are a series of FReeper articles on the E-mail Hacker, David Kernell and Sarah Palin ...
