The US Catholic church on Tuesday condemned Arizona's "draconian" new immigration law, saying it would alienate immigrant communities across the United States.

"This new law, although limited to the State of Arizona, could have impact throughout the nation in terms of how members of our immigrant communities are both perceived and treated," Bishop John Wester said in a statement issued on behalf of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).

This is the kind of loopy thinking that monolithic giant foists on you, Mark. Now you have to submit and acknowledge that it is wiser, more godly, better informed about God’s will than you. This is the submission demanded from Rome.

Thinking believers say, “Tell Rome to shove it where the relic don’t shine.” But, you my FRiend are stuck. Remember, even your tag line. They pronounce, you obey.

Unbelievable. If you were to live here in AZ and see the trouble illegals cause, you would be astounded that Rome would collude with La Raza and Reconquista. This persuades me all the more...Catholicism is a screwed up cult.

We do the ACA for our bishop. There is very little money that comes from the Mexicans.

“The law signed by Arizona’s Republican Governor Jan Brewer on Friday allows police in the southwestern state that shares a border with Mexico to question and detain anyone they believe may be an illegal immigrant, even if they are not suspected of committing another crime.”

Yet another lie being perpetuated by the media, this time by AFP.

If indeed this is the official position of the USCCB, then I must assume they are in favor of open borders. I then wonder, if the USCCB is so unconcerned about rules and laws, would they also not care if I, as a practicing Catholic, treated the rules of the Church in the same way?

The only reason the church is doing this is because a good deal of their donations come from the Hispanic community.

An urban legend perpetuated by the ignorant. Most illegals don't attend Church and those that do don't contribute much, if anything, to the collection.

Those navel gazing buffoons at the USCCB need to brush up on the Catechism. It's prudential statements like these that cause most of the laity to ignore those clowns.

2241 The more prosperous nations are obliged, to the extent they are able, to welcome the foreigner in search of the security and the means of livelihood which he cannot find in his country of origin. Public authorities should see to it that the natural right is respected that places a guest under the protection of those who receive him.

Political authorities, for the sake of the common good for which they are responsible, may make the exercise of the right to immigrate subject to various juridical conditions, especially with regard to the immigrants' duties toward their country of adoption. Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them, to obey its laws and to assist in carrying civic burdens.

Illegal aliens voluntarily — ILLEGALLY — come into our country.

Fetuses — or babies — don’t voluntarily come into this world.

One is innocent, the other is not.

Can’t the bishops see the difference?

Go do some penance.

Pray that God forgets about your ignorance.

"The sins of my youth and my ignorances do not remember. According to thy mercy remember thou me: for thy goodness' sake, O Lord." Psalm 24:7

Exactly. My uncle is a priest and he’s told me that the hispanic community is singlehandedly keeping the church afloat in this country. Many congregations are nearly 100% hispanic now especially in AZ, FL, CA, and TX.

Thanks for the ping.

This is the submission demanded from Rome. Thinking believers say, “Tell Rome to shove it where the relic don’t shine.” But, you my FRiend are stuck. Remember, even your tag line. They pronounce, you obey.

My tagline is from one of THEM - St. Augustine. But this is not Rome. And Rome is doing something about cleaning out the Augean Stables - which the USCCB has turned into.

Unbelievable. If you were to live here in AZ and see the trouble illegals cause, you would be astounded that Rome would collude with La Raza and Reconquista.

Rome isn't. The USCCB is. And they are gradually being replaced to the point where they won't any longer. We are recovering from the guano from the aftereffects of Vatican II. This is part of it, and we apologize that the world has to see this.

This persuades me all the more...Catholicism is a screwed up cult.

And I'm not sure if you understand how much this affects me that you would look at this and reach that conclusion with a definite level of justification.

“On behalf”? Whose wording is that? The Conference of Catholic Bishops, which has not met on this issue, or Bishop Wester, or maybe just Agence France Presse?

As a Catholic, I say these Bishops do not represent me. The USCCB does not represent lay Catholics in the US and has not for many years. This organization is controlled by a bunch of left wing Bishops who have failed to stand up to any of the Catholic US politicians who actively support abortion. Further, this organization failed to speak out against Obama during the election campaign. In fact, I suspect the majority of them actually voted for the abortion-loving Obama.

I say to Catholics everywhere, vote with your wallet. Stop contributing to every one of the annual Bishop fund raising campaigns in your diocese.
