Tea Party Numbers Released: 2 Million, 2 Thousand
PRNewswire-USNewswire ^ | April 29,2010 | Tea Party Patriots

Posted on 04/29/2010 3:43:35 PM PDT by mdittmar

The Tea Party Patriots have announced a milestone in the movement: 2 million people attended the April 15 Tea Party events across the country, and 2,000 groups are now voluntarily affiliated with the Tea Party Patriots through its web site www.TeaPartyPatriots.org.

"This is a remarkable achievement for an organization that is just over a year old and run entirely by grassroots volunteers," said Mark Meckler, Co-Founder and member of the TPP National Coordinator Team.  "What holds the Tea Party Patriots together is a belief in America's founding principles and a serious concern that our elected officials are bankrupting our future and compromising our individual liberties."

Recent polls have shown that 48% of voters believe their views are reflected more closely in the values of the Tea Party movement than in the views of President Obama.

"The Tea Party principles of fiscal responsibility, constitutionally-limited government, and free markets have steadily attracted a growing percentage of Americans to the movement," says Sally Oljar, state coordinator for Washington, and another TPP National Coordinator.

The Tea Party Patriots network was the primary organizer of the 2010 Tax Day Tea Parties held in more than 800 cities on April 15th.

"We estimate that over two million people attended Tea Parties on April 15, or the weekend preceding Tax Day or the weekend after," says Co-Founder and National Coordinator Jenny Beth Martin.  "The Tea Party movement is stronger than ever before, and we are getting stronger each day."

Tea Party Patriots, Inc. is a strictly non-partisan grassroots organization and was founded in March 2009 as a support and networking umbrella for tea partiers, 9/12, As a Mom, Constitution Party, We the People and hundreds of other liberty oriented groups across the nation.  The groups voluntarily associate under the Tea Party Patriots umbrella, and subscribe to the core principles of fiscal responsibility, constitutionally limited government and free markets.

That is a small sample of the total. Some polls have shown 28% of the population supports the movement to some degree. That is approaching 88,000,000

This sounds like it is designed either to soothe the worrysome or show the supporters or sidelines that this movement is not as strong as they say. I contend that the tea party may or maynot show thier ture numbers BUT........... I asure you the support group behind this movement is massive!

10% of 360 million is 36 million;)

Obama received 67 million votes and McCain received 58 million votes in the 2008 election.

Looks like we may hqve a few more to go.LOL.
Sorry for the faux pas.

The hangup for the tea party movement is the adoption of certain politicans that support certian Rino incombents on one hand. Then on the other hand, they have been weak in laying out what they want and getting candidates to back what they want. They are great at organizing protests.

I agree! I have yet to be able to show at any tea party event. I am attending in August in DC this year along with my sister, 3 kids, and my father and his wife. I’m still trying to talk hubby into going, but we will see. He agrees with the movement, he just doesn’t like long car rides with the kids.

Oh well, I’m there!

“Tea Party” is not just membership - it is also a mindset... Active Tea Party members may just be 2 million ... But the number who align their political leanings with the Tea Party mindset is enormous. I suggest that the Tea Party support base is 10 to 20 times 2 million and growing.

There were 1 Million in DC in Sept!

Not buying that HALF the people in the movement went to DC.

Good point. The 2 million number is a low ball guess, IMO.

That's just the tip of the iceberg.

I think there are maybe 20 or 30 million.

I would guess you're right about that. There were 1 million in once place at one time, and we represented, I would guess at a minimum, 10 to 20 other people who couldn't come.

The number may even be far higher. And there are more than that who sympathize with our cause.

This is by far the biggest movement of the American people in its history.

And we are dismissed by this Marxist gov't as kooks or terrorists. They underestimate our strength at their peril. This is a force to be reckoned with.
