Terms ‘Mother and Father’ Removed From Birth Certificate in UK
The Christian Telegraph ^ | 4/30/10

Two homosexual activists posed proudly in front of cameras as the first same-sex parents in Britain to jointly sign a birth certificate, reports Christian Concern for our Nation.

Natalie Woods, 38, gave birth to Lily May Betty Woods in Brighton earlier this month through the use of sperm given by a registered donor. Her lesbian partner, Elizabeth Knowles, 47, is named on the certificate instead of the biological father.

The couple were able to take advantage of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 2008 which came into effect at the beginning of this month. The Act entitles people in same-sex relationships to both be treated as equal parents of a child. Until the law changed, homosexual couples could not put both of their names on a child conceived by a donor.

Neither of the women are described as ‘mother’ on the certificate as the words ‘mother and father’ have been scrapped from some birth certificates—the practice for the past 170 years—and the lesbians are listed as Lily May's ‘parents’ instead.

Miss Woods, who lives with her lesbian partner in Brighton, East Sussex is currently on maternity leave from her job as services manager at the city's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Switchboard, a counselling service.

Stonewall, the homosexual lobby group, welcomed the change in the law and said it was a much needed ‘fairer’ system for homosexuals.

However, the move has outraged pressure groups, who say a child’s birth certificate should accurately reflect their biology and not new political agendas.

Baroness Deech, the chairman of the Bar Standards Board, is an open critic of the rules allowing homosexual couples to sign birth certificates with no mention of the father. She said such a move could undermine the child’s right to understand its identity.

‘There is an issue of principle here, which is the truth,’ she said last month.

‘It puts the demands of the adults ahead of the rights of children to know and benefit from both sides of their genetic makeup. This is not a moral issue; it is about disguising true facts, and it is about confusing biological parenthood, legal and social parenthood.’

Josephine Quintavalle, from Comment on Reproductive Ethics (CORE), said:

‘Birth certificates should reflect how a baby is generated. In a culture that is obsessed with genetics, it is strange that when it comes to birth certificates we are prepared to forget all that.

‘As much as you try to play around with the terminology, the biology reflects what has happened and one day the child will ask about their father.’

Andrea Minichiello Williams, Director of CCFON, said: ‘It is extraordinary that an Act of Parliament has allowed the truth to be exchanged for a lie. Every child needs a mother and a father to come into this world and every birth certificate should reflect the child’s real parents. This extremely sad state of affairs is taking place at a time when there is an urgent need for greater involvement of fathers in the lives of their children’.

It breaks my heart to think of a child raised like this. Government SHOULD be protecting the children first and foremost. This is evil.

For those FReepers who are not Christian, are you aware of prophecy? In the end, evil will be called good and good will be called evil, and the world will be like Sodom and Gomorrah. It is going to happen, and you can see it coming. Man is not evolving to some higher state. He’s devolving.

I am not a christian, but I think two things.

1. Western governments are intentionally destroying the family unit by design, and they are doing it with welfare payments to single mothers and by using homosexuals.

2. Some people have defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over yet expecting a different result. I define insanity differently.

Insanity is seeing Good in Evil, and seeing Evil in Good. Using this definition, one could argue that a HUGE PERCENTAGE of mankind is utterly and absolutely insane.

Coming to America in 5... 4...3... 2....

...and to think only 30 years ago some parents thought the most vulgar thing to come to our shores from the UK was "The Benny Hill Show".

The UK is not swirling down the toilet; it’s already through the sewer pipes and in the cesspool.

They MUST be “activist”.

I call them "infectivists." There cannot be any corner of society free of their despicable immorality; if they find such a place, they HAVE to infect it - be it a Church or denomination, a school, a private organization (BSA), a Christian business, or a conservative region/town/state. Like a virus, over-running it and imposing their demented ideas of morality is their life's goal.

Personally, I don't mind there being a San Fransicko, full of the most depraved and unhuman monsters imaginable, as long as it remains contained and non-exportable. However, the homo-liberals can't stomach the idea of any place where they aren't represented and lionized.

...I really could care less about what gays do in the privacy of their own bedroom...

But when they start making their imprint on the culture and society in this manner, and try to imply that their way of life is as normal as hetero, that’s where I draw the line.

Your first sentence is where you make your mistake, and all the rest stems from this indifference to immorality in a society. I know where you're coming from, most people just want to be left alone, but there should be no laissez-faire attitude when it comes to such debauchery. Sodomy laws were once society's formal stamp of disapproval of homosexuality; even if they were rarely enforced, society's disapproval remained codified in its laws. When these were suddenly swept away with one flawed, irrational decision in Lawrence vs. Texas, the effect was horrendous and almost immediate - very soon afterward, Massachusetts had court-imposed homosexual "marriage", others began approving or considering "civil union" laws, states began adding "sexual orientation and gender identity" to their non-discrimination and "hate crime" statutes, and the boost to homosexual activists' agenda was incalculable.

So I can't stand it when "conservatives" say that they don't care what homosexuals do in the privacy of their own homes. It was never about privacy at all, but the "right" to impose their own value system on society. We do nothing but surrender more ground when we speak these words.
