White House Declares Halt on New Offshore Drilling
Aol News ^ | 30/4/10 | Doug Simpson, Lauren Frayer

The White House said today it is halting all new offshore drilling in U.S. waters until there's an "adequate review" of a massive 600-mile wide oil slick that has begun to lap up on Louisiana's coast.

The federal government is defending its response to the spill, which began with an April 20 blast on one of British Petroleum's offshore rigs that burned for two days before sinking. Rescuers saved 115 workers but 11 are presumed dead. BP is responsible for the cleanup, and it wasn't until Thursday -- nine days after the explosion -- that the White House declared it "a leak of national significance."

White House senior adviser David Axelrod told ABC's "Good Morning America" today that President Barack Obama has decided that there will be no new domestic offshore drilling until an investigation of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill incident is complete.

"All he has said is that he is not going to continue the moratorium on drilling but ... no additional drilling has been authorized and none will until we find out what happened here and whether there was something unique and preventable here," Axelrod said, defending the administration's policy.

Islamo-fascists with Enviros with Dictators like Chavez with other oil exporting counties all have a lot to win if the USA shuts down production and exploration.

And come to think of it, is not the “peace/love/environment” crew the tool of other countries in the world in a quest to stifle US power?

It is odd. You would think the major headlines on all the MSM would be, “What caused the explosion?” But no one’s asking. The focus is all on the environmental effects. There’s little focus on the cause.

And using the Podesta/Democrat/Obama/BP Connection.

“Can you help us out BP? We will make sure you get your contacts and access, we just need a little help getting the people’s minds right for control purposes...”

This is the same regime that talked out of one side of their snake heads about bad Pharmacy while they had meetings behind clsoed doors with Big Pharmacy.

Look what they did with GM’s little money crisis?! Union shop that can now LIE in commercials.

Obama is a DisneyBoyBand in that EVERYTHING is orchestrated and created for show...

With the ultimate goal of securing lasting power for the elite polictical chosen.

An explosion caused it to sink. There was a thread here on FR where a bunch of guys who work on rigs had an explanation for it. I have no idea which thread it was.

I am convinced the response was held back on purpose.

Exactly. Was this rig not “cutting edge technology” that ws being run at a cost of $1000,000.00 per day?

It’s only mission was drilling, capping, containing, transferring oil. It had a number of built in safe guards.

How does a small fire take place, become controlled for 3 HOURS, then a big explsion take place?

Would workers have PFD’s on? Would the bodies float? Were bodies recovered?

Does the “press” care to ask questions?

We've officially gone through the looking glass.

I'd like to personally strangle everyone who voted for these clowns, then dig 'em up and strangle them again.

Hold up on the conspiracy theories until we learn a lot more.

You haven't heard any conspiracy theories from me. I was questioning if the _resident has the authority to singlehandedly stop drilling that has already been approved.

For my part..BP seems to be involved in too many incidents where they appear to be taking the cheaper route with less regard for safety.

I am a contract safety inspector for BP. I can tell you that BP takes it's safety procedures to the extreme. So much so that, at times, it is difficult to get work done.

At the same time they are wasting millions on enviromental hype advertising to polish their image.

They put their money where their mouth is. I'm sure thackney can attest to what I say as being true.

Even if he’s a legitimate POTUS, which is still very much doubtful, he does not possess dictatorial powers over commerce.

“This is a free country” you remember that phrase? We used to say it all the time as kids when someone would try to make us do something they didn’t have authority to make us do, or make us stop doing something. How naive we were!

True, EV, but he has been acting as a dictator since day one, and nobody has stopped him. He has that stooge, Holder playing umpire for him. The Republicans, save for half a dozen, are all hiding.
