The Obama Justice Department advanced the erroneous claim in an April 21, 2010, court filing that Secret Service logs of White House visitors are not subject to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), according to a report released Wednesday by legal watchdog group Judicial Watch.

Whatever the legalities. There is no legitimate reason for him to conceal the list of white house visitors. The only possible reason is to conceal plans being concocted to the advantage of the visitor or the presidents political agenda.

Remember Bill Clinton, on the night of his election, announcing his administration would be the most ethical in history? Liberals always telegraph their flaws by what they promise. Obama was going to be transparent, free of special interests and honest. That’s the functional equivalent of a promise to be secretive, devoted to special interests, and corrupt. The Obama White House admits in the new court filing that it is taking records from the Secret Service in order to ensure that they are not disclosed under FOIA. The Obama administration speculates that there would be “dire national security consequences” if certain White House visitors are disclosed. The Obama White House wants to be able to withhold visitor logs until as long as 12 years after President Obama leaves office.

Now it’s official. The Obama White House has made the bogus claim in court that the Secret Service’s logs of White House visitors are not subject to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and therefore may be kept secret from the American people. In other words, the Obama administration believes you have no right to know under law who visits the White House or under what circumstances.
