Following the attempted car bombing outside the Viacom building at Times Square in New York City this past Saturday, some of the immediate speculation has turned to information. Much of the rest remains informed speculation but speculation nonetheless. With over 48 hours now past since the initial incident, an analysis of knowns and unknowns is warranted. It is important that the American public access and understand this information, particularly those who live and work in the New York City metro area, for 'home' remains Target New York.

All failures are successes. All successes are recruits.

Quite true. Shahzad and his network now will get worldwide publicity . If you are a nobody, set up a poorly made bomb, get caught and the you name is on the tip of everybody tongue. If you manage to blow yourself up, your are a jihad hero rewarded with all the trimmings.

I suggest we dissolve the terrorist's names and just assign them a number instead.

I am sorry, but this “analysis” is ridiculous. We have more info and up to date, minute by minute info, on the TM thread than this “analysis” has managed to put together even AFTER the bomber is arrested.
Anyone who reads this and thinks they know what happened or how or why will remain clueless.

Anyone wants comprehensive data on this should go here:

Has anyone considered that the Christmas Day bomber and the Times Square bomber DELIBERTLY “failed” in their attempts? Both have succeeded in their main purpose - fear.

Perhaps a successful bombing would trigger a massive military response that they do not want. A “failed” bomb attack instills fear and is just as successful as a real detonation, without the unintended consequences.

Judging by the state of “homeland defense”, the war against the Mohammedans is almost over - and America has lost. Consider this - radical Mohammedan “schools” operate freely; anti-American groups (like CAIR) openly advocate fot the violent overthrow of the government; public facilities have been modified to accomodate Mohammedan prayer; and finally, it is NINE YEARS since the World Trade Center was destroyed. There is STILL a giant hole in the ground to remind us.

“Without the unintended consequences?” Which means with the intended consequences, right? More fear is generated by a deadly explosion than by a failed attempt.

I was referring to massive military retaliation. Why invite further military action when you can accomplish the main target - creating fear and doubt in America.

Now, I realize that the chances of such military action is greatly reduced by the WH Occupant; but would he defy the American people’s cry for retaliation?

Psycholocically, creating terror in the minds of the citizenry is a weapon as powerful as a bomb.

Also, it doesn't have the effect of enabling your opposition to claim you've allowed a record of 9 attack free years come to an end due to lack of competence. (tin foil hat securely on)

This is not the same American that was protected under President Bush. The enemy within will keep trying until they are successful. They know this admnistration is weak and Obama is a closet Muslim.
