Can Dan Coats win in Indiana??
Me | May 5, 2010 | Me

Can Dan Coats win?? I know he's up in the polls, but he hasn't lived in Indiana for years, and even made jokes about it. Also, the Dems in Indy have been hammering Coats on his lobbying activities, which could definitely strike a chord in the anti-Washington, anti-elites environment. Ellsworth is a partisan Democrat who voted for Obamacare, but he is pro-gun and pro-life.

Any Indy freepers care to disagree with me?

How do you disagree with a question?

Maybe, But the dems will destroy him based on his record.

I voted for Stutzman, He should have been the pick for every conservative.

No Democrat is 'pro-gun' or 'pro-life' that should have been the lesson we learned in the last few months.

Anyone associated with Obama is going down.

Coats may not be the ideal but we need GOP votes to block Obama.

Bart Stupak was supposedly pro-gun and pro-life too.

Look where that got us!

Simple, does he call himself a conservative yet, when the chips are down, vote for bailouts or anything with the word “comprehensive” in it? If so, I would not vote for him.

If he’s has some more liberal positions and is HONEST about it, I would vote for him over a Democrat.

I think Coats will win. Ellsworth’s votes on health care and his general support for Queen Nancy should be fatal if advertised aggressively. Unfortunately, panty-waist Republicans don’t like to bring up such things.

But then I thought McCain would carry Indiana, too....

Coats was my third choice but he won the primary and we’ll have to live with it. Indy is shock full of liberals so Coats won’t win Marion County. Having said that, he may do very well elsewhere except the more liberal areas like Lake and Vanderburg counties. I should prove to be an interesting race. Much will depend on the enthusiasm of the voting public but let’s hope Ellsworth doesn’t win because that is just one more vote for the socialist agenda.

Ellsworth votes for porkulus and healthcare deform. Given the mood of the electorate that should do him in.

An awful lot of politicians become lobbyists after leaving Congress. Nothing wrong with it unless you’re a crook.

“Ellsworth is a partisan Democrat who voted for Obamacare, but he is pro-gun and pro-life.”

Contradictory statement here. You can’t vote for 0bamacare and still claim to be pro-life. Coats needs to come out as pro-gun despite a couple of bad votes during his previous Senate term.

Dims only stand for power to the party that’s it. Dims always do what the anti-gun leadership tells them to do at crunch time (just like with the pro-abortion 0bamacare). Don’t tell me that Ellsworth would be a reliable pro-gun vote because he is a lying SOS Dim. So the pro-gun rights people should not be fooled by Ellsworth or any Dim.

Does not compute. So what you are saying is that he’s prolife, just not for unborn babies?

Its going to be hard for me to vote for coats, but I will still vote for him. The NRA will have a hard time endorsing him, and will most likely endorse ellsworth.

The Pro Life part is G-O-N-E. He double crossed the Indiana state prolifers and made them look foolish. He is on a Family Research Council “must beat” list. BTW why isn’t Joe Donnelly on that list? Can anyone explain that?

grumpygresh:
No Congressional Dim can be really be pro-life with leadership of the evil triumvirate: zero, Reid and Pelosi. If a Dim votes for that triad, the other votes are of secondary importance. A vote for a Dim leader is a vote for death.

BS. If he voted for Obama care he voted to establish federal funding for Abortion on demand. He can CLAIM to be Pro-life but he is a liar.

Sadly Stutzman would have walked away with it if the lesser candidates did not dilute the anti-Coats field (i.e. Behney, Hostettler, etc.) I wish they would have recognized that they did not have a real shot at it toward the end and rally behind Stutzman, that gesture would have given them greater future political capital.

Instead, they siphoned off votes that would have gone to Stutzman and thwarted a Stutzman victory. After all, Coats only won by a margin north of 35% - not necessarily a resounding victory.

I do not like Dan Coats, I think he's a scripted phony like Mitt Romney, but I will begrudgingly vote for him in November.

These LOSER RATS have NO room to talk. They can take a long walk off a short pier, as far as I’m concerned.

Tea Parties need to learn a major lesson here. We need to consolidate our efforts in these races - to push through to UNITED victory.

Let us learn for future. We're de-centralized, and in this race it cost us.

I should add that Stutzman and the other undoubtedly put some fear into Coats, and Tea Parties will be consistently doing that when we win, and even when we don’t win. There is value in that!
