I am really surprised you all missed this about Obey retiring.....
Vanity

You all missed this one. Obey is retiring for one reason, and one reason only.

Do you all realize that Obey's son's organization received $2B+ from last year's Porkulus bill?

The only reason Obey is quitting is that he now has a nice little "nut" of tax-payer money and is going to retire in style with his pension and his son shuffling some cash under the table to him.

Craig Obey is David Obey's son.

I am shocked, shocked I tell you!

I don’t think so.

I think he knows the Democrats are going to lose the house and he will lose his position. Maybe not his seat, but his position in the house, and he just can’t handle that idea.

After 21 terms in the Congressional District of Wisconsin, I understand he gets like $295,000 a year in government retirement pensions and perks, not to mention other lucrative government benefits.

When the conservative Inquisition commences must pressure our reps to haul each and everyone before a congressional tribunal and charge them with crimes against the American people, I can dream can't I?

It appears that Obey’s son is a lobbyist - I couldn’t find anything about HIS organization. Does he have his own ORGANIZATION and if so, what is it?

We probably will never see Obey in the 7th district again.

Both Obey and his son belong in prison for their crimes against the American people.

Looks to me like his son lobbied for the National Parks System...and that's who got the $2B earmark.

Not some personal organization....

That said, I wonder what his "cut" was?
