Now this is surprising: According to a new ABC News/Washington Post poll, about one in three so-called "birthers" - those who erroneously believe President Obama was born outside of the United States - nonetheless approve of the president's job performance.
Fourteen percent of those surveyed in the poll volunteered that Mr. Obama was born in another country, a figure that rose to 20 percent when pollsters explicitly offered that as a possibility.
That means roughly one in five Americans could be considered a birther, according to the poll. It showed that about one in three conservatives and Republicans believe the president was born abroad. Fifteen percent of Democrats agree.
Yet it's worth noting that about half of these birthers cast their position as just suspicion, not a firm belief. The rest (about nine percent of Americans overall) say there is "solid evidence" that the president was born abroad.
As has been repeatedly shown, Mr. Obama was born in Hawaii in 1961. Birthers have suggested that Mr. Obama is not eligible for the presidency because he fails the constitutional requirement that the holder of the office be a natural born citizen.
Overall, 68 percent of those polled said without being prompted that Mr. Obama was born in the United States. Another nine percent said that was their "best guess," bringing the non-birther total to 77 percent.
People who have not gone past high school are far more likely to say the president was born abroad (24 percent say so) than those who have post-graduate degrees (13 percent).
In a CBS News survey taken last month, 58 percent of Americans said Mr. Obama was born in the United States, while 20 percent said he was born elsewhere. Just 41 percent of Tea Party supporters said Mr. Obama was born in America.

His father was not a US citizen. If 0bama is “natural-born,” then all illegals giving birth here are to “natural-born” Americans, which they aren’t, in my understanding.

So I take it CBS has actually SEEN the document proving that he was born in Hawaii? Last I checked, real journalists actually sought out the truth instead of just going with ‘the politician SAID SO’, but then again, this is CBS.

Believe it or not the poll may be accurate. I know many people who voted for him and have a problem with the lack of proof of Barry’s existence and experiences.
The BC issue bothers them but they feel he is in the chair and there is not much they can do about it.
They have said if his BC is found and it is at variance with his life and life story then they will get up in arms about it, as it were.
Until then, they are fighting to make a living.
Obama brought this upon himself by hiding the true details of his past. I mean, besides the obvious details he had to admit such as the fact that he is an America-hating, freedom-hating, Christian-hating, capitalism-hating, whitey-hating, abortionist, statist, racist, Marxist pig.
So CBS in their utter stupidity is saying that the fact of Obama's actual birthplace depends on a stupid poll? Why don't they take a poll to see how fast the speed of light is or how many chromosomes are in a strand of DNA? Everything is political and decided by idiot polls?
Please, give us a longer lease on life and don't post anything from the unbelievably stupid thing called "CBS".
