Hiring robust across nation; California could follow
Sacramento Bee ^ | May 8, 2010 | By Dale Kasler

America has gone on a hiring binge – and it looks like California is about to join the party.

Although the unemployment rate increased two-tenths of a point, to 9.9 percent, economists were encouraged by the robust hiring.

Including some revisions to previous months' data, the total nationwide job growth through the first four months of the year comes to 573,000.

Even the uptick in the unemployment rate was considered good news of sorts.

“America has gone on a hiring binge...”

(Is this assertion the result of ‘medical’ pot in California?)

So let me get this straight: the unemployment rate has gone up, and that's a signal that employers have gone on a "hiring binge". Is that right?

Where's the Tylenol?

Yep, the Sac Bee employees must be smoking way too much of it.

Nothing has changed here in the North East. My son graduated yesterday, I’ll let you know when he gets a job.

Some of this MSM propaganda would make orwell blush:

  1. WAR IS PEACE
  2. FREEDOM IS SLAVERY
  3. IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH.

Federal hiring is a drain on the debt. Only private sector hirings should be reported as a gauge of economic health.

Well, we have corporate clients with headquarters in CA, NY and TX - during the last 10 days - ALL of them have laid off employees. In fact, they have been quietly laying off employees since the beginning of the year. We work in ‘high tech’ - despite media claims to the contrary - things remain grim and the US workforce is shrinking.

You are absolutely correct. ONLY private sector hiring should be reported.

(There is a hiring boost in the Nashville area at the moment...due to the clean-up from the great FLOOD...that our national media is hardly mentioning.)

It’s a miracle this clown survived the massive layoffs at his newspaper. Is his paper going to hire back all the staffers they’ve chopped during Obama’s first year? He can be reached here:

I hardly think that hiring a few thousand grass mowers and leaf blowers is going to make up for the hundreds of thousands of highly skilled and educated workers that are being laid off.

I couldn’t find the number for the total number of workers, but if there are 100 million, a .002 rise in unemployment is 2000,00 jobs.

If that happened and there were 200,000 jobs gained it means 400,000 jobs were lost in the same period
