No, I don’t want the government to make all decisions for me.

The problem with drugs like marijuana is, they don’t just affect the user.

Deliberately making ourselves paranoid, stoned, or mentally useless drags the whole place down. We don’t live in a void.

Of course there is the issue of dependents, and operating machinery, and so forth.

We don’t all live on little islands. We can’t indulge in that level of anti-social behavior without everyone paying a price.

And the exact same thing goes on with Booze.

Booze doesn’t just affect the user.

Booze makes you violent and mentally useless and drags the whole place down. How many people don’t go to sporting events, concerts or public parks because of the drunks.

Here’s the data:
In 2008 - 11,773 people died in drunk driving accidents. Just Drunk Driving - .08 BAC about 3 drinks in an hour for a healthy man. Two drinks for a woman.
In 2008 - 0 people died because of Pot.

I’m not saying that marijuana is harmless, far from that. I don’t want kids smoking it at all, I don’t want my airline pilot listening to Reggae the night before the flight. I don’t want the trucker take a puff break.

Is the danger of Pot to adults really worse than Booze? Is the danger of Pot to adults really worth the cost of the War on Drugs? I haven’t smoked pot in almost 15 years and even back then it was only once or twice a year - just not my thing. If they legalize it, I’m not going to start smoking it.
