Killing and kidnapping at Mexico wedding
Published: May 9, 2010 at 4:47 PM

JUAREZ, Mexico, May 9 (UPI) -- Gunmen killed one person at a wedding and kidnapped the groom and three others Friday at a Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, church before escaping, officials say.

Chihuahua State Attorney General's Office spokesman Carlos Gonzalez said "It's unclear if this was gang or drug related," CNN reported.

The shooting victim, described in his 20s, was shot in the back in the church's parking lot while running from the scene, Gonzalez said.

The groom, his brother, uncle and best man were kidnapped, CNN said.

In 2009, Ciudad Juarez had more than 2,600 drug-related deaths, and is alleged to be the most violent city in Mexico.

CNN reports at least 870 people have been killed in Juarez so far this year.

Should've thought of that on my wedding day.

I don’t blame so many Mexicans for wanting out of their crime-ridden cesspool of a country, but if he open up the borders, the same thing will happen here. We’re already getting some of it.

>>Should’ve thought of that on my wedding day.<<

My ex-wife’s brother was a Gunny Sarge. I am pretty sure it would have been the narcos who would have been missing.

He scared the hell out of me but I respected him.

I am reminded of the opening scene in “Tombstone.”

"It's unclear if this was gang or drug related,"

We need to invade the border states of Mexico and create a buffer state . We could do it in 12 hours. Then we would stop this crap. This is lawless !!

My granny was a bridal consultant in SoCal. I
recall her telling me that the Mexican custom
is for the groom’s family to pony-up the funds
to cover the wedding expenses. Hmmmm.....

Oh it’s already been happening here for quite awhile actually.

Back in the mid seventies I was living downtown Long Beach around the corner from the old Lafayette Hotel which was used most often for Mexican weddings. I heard a sound one Saturday out the window of the apartment I was living, went to the open window, looked across, then down at the dead young fellow below. Yup, they shot him in the back as he ran from the Hotel. Right below my second story window. I was a bit disconcerted as I really don’t like people shooting people around me.

It seems not counting this shooting, there were twelve others:
Twelve killed in Juárez since Friday afternoon

EL PASO - Two young men were shot and killed Friday night inside a vehicle with Texas license plates at a popular crossing in central Juárez.
Chihuahua state police found 46 bullet casings at the scene where José Luis Meza Terrazas, 22, and Miguel Ángel Prieto Herrera, 25, were murdered.

The attack occurred about 10:15 p.m. at the Tecnológico and Teófilo Borunda avenues near the Camino Real hotel. The men were found inside a green 2003 Ford Expedition.

Separate attacks Friday afternoon, night and Saturday morning have killed 12 people in Juárez. An average of eight people are killed every day in the border city considered to be the epicenter of Mexico’s drug cartel violence.

Nearly 900 people have been killed in Juárez this year, and more than 5,100 have been killed since 2008.

We should speak out loud and clear if Mexicans try to seek asylum into our country. That would be a horror show for us. For one thing, we wouldn't know who among the asylum seekers had organized crime connections and the bloodshed that we are seeing on the Mexican streets would soon be all over America's streets.

Another reason not to let them in; Mexico is a large country and there are many places to seek asylum within their own country. The violence isn't going on in every city and town. It is concentrated more in certain areas, especially along the border. If they ask to come here we should suggest that they go to other parts of their own country. It is one thing to take in refugees from overseas but it is another to take refugees from a country that shares a two thousand mile border with us. We can limit the number of refugees that come from other parts of the world but we would have a very difficult time keeping Mexican refugees out of our country. We have to send a strong unequivocal message now, we cannot afford to send a weak message as that would start the stampede.

Cielito lindo

De la Sierra Morena,
Cielito lindo, vienen bajando
Un par de ojitos negros,
Cielito lindo, de contrabando

Ay, ay, ay, ay,
Canta y no llores,
Porque cantando se alegran,
Cielito lindo, los corazones
