Yeah, except "bleepin'" socialized medicine for the military, right? The warfare and welfare states go together like hand in glove. It is no coicidence that the two biggest defenders of the welfare state in the twentieth century (FDR, Truman, and Johnson) were also the biggest friends of world policing.
Besides, you could eliminate the ENTIRE domestic welfare state and STILL have a massive budget debt. We need cut both. Belive it or not some conservatives don't check their distrust of big government at the door, when it comes to super big government policing the world and nation building.
Listen, chum, if someone is injured (I mean a real injury, not a John Kerry style Purple Heart injury) in the service of their country, that same country owes it to them to take care of their medical needs afterward. They should also honor contracts made with the military with the same diligence as they would a private contracting firm. In other words, any changes should be grandfathered in. But even so, they do so at their own peril: it’s the military that keeps what’s left our country safe. They guard even those who try to dismantle the structure of that military.
military doctors for military troops is bleeping socialized medicine? Uncle Sam begging selected skilled folks to reenlist time and again over the past 50 years, and promising them medical care for life as an incentive, is now bleeping socialized medicine?
Right friend, cut it. But do it now and do it fast. Give the all volunteer active force a fair shot to vote. With their feet.
