Jackson “hated” the Indians so much that he adopted one as his own son. Of course the Trail of Tears certainly was not a highpoint, but I still think the greatness of Jackson is that he created the Manifest Destiny that led to us taking as much as we could of North America. Polk idolized Jackson and extended on what Jackson had begun, which includes kicking the crap out of Mexico and taking the American Southwest. By today’s limp-wristed PC standards, both would be compared to Hitler - But they were both Great Americans and Great Presidents. Today’s liberals can rot in hell.
Jackson continued the long tradition of reneging on previous Indian treaties. Thousands of Indians perished during the forced relocations.

Jackson retired after serving as President in 1837. The Manifest Destiny, at least as a term, was evidently created by a New York journalist in 1839.
