Attorney General Eric Holder tells Jake Tapper this morning that alleged Times Square bombing screwup Faisal Shahzad was facilitated, financed and working under the direction of the Pakistani Taliban.
While that clears some things up, remember that there is still a middle-aged Tea Party supporter stalking the Nutmeg State, who is angry about the housing crisis and the health care bill, with his U.S. citizenship still in good standing, and probably linking up with our home-grown militias for more one-off attacks.
OK, so I'm the millionth person to make that joke in the last week. But it's more than a joke because not all the people making those wildly wrong claims about Shahzad's background and motivation were pundits or minor potentates like New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. The "one-off" attack line came from the highest official in the American government charged with preventing attacks exactly like Shahzad's: Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano.
Napolitano's rhetorical slip is a little too serious to be palmed off with some linguistic woolgathering. She has made clear repeatedly that she believes people with Gadsden flag bumper stickers are a greater threat to domestic tranquility than out-of-the-closet terrorists who receive training and material assistance in foreign terror centers. She has been wrong about this every time, and she will continue to be wrong until Americans actually die.
This is an obvious politicization of her office. (Napolitano's favored targets -- health care protesters and disgruntled veterans -- are distinguished not by their propensity toward violence but by their opposition to the administration.) But if you believe in the necessity of a Homeland Security Department, every day Napolitano is in charge of it creates an actual risk to life and property. Napolitano has a positive burden of proof: She needs to demonstrate some understanding of how to do her job, or she needs to be fired, for the security of the United States and the safety of the American people.
Don't call me Shirley!
you mean that unlike in the Netherlands, the dike won’t protect us?
This Thug Administration’s chickens will be coming home to roost on November 2nd.
In order for her to be fired, her boss would have to have standards higher than hers, more intelligence than her, and oDumbo would have to somehow disagree with her. I doubt he's ever heard her before, let alone disagree with her.
She can’t be fired for incompetence. She’s a lesbian. That’s how she got the job in the first place!
Look at it this way - she’s no dumber than Bloomberg.
She won’t get fired. She will step up to something.
To mis-quote oBummer’s predecessor:
“You’re doing a heckuva job, Janet”
Obama seems to have a thing for short, stocky, brunette women with unfortunate hairstyles. Janet stays.
She has a permanent “deer in the headlights’ expression, which I am very tired of looking at.
I don’t feel one little bit safer with her at the helm of HHS.
Then National Security Advisor Condaleeza Rice (along with the rest of the Bush 43 administration) had barely had time to find the restrooms (remember Bush vs. Gore?) when 9/11 happened. The Obama regime had a very gracious predecessor that bent over backwards during the transition plus 15 months to prepare for this terrorist attack. Apples and Oranges, FRiend!!
President of the United Nations Security Council? 5 star general in the new Civilian National Security Force? LGBT Czar?
And you really think LTC Slade the fictional officer in the scent of a women is pulling my chain? Be yourself 2009.
