I agree. Ryan has an “it” quality.

But how is his sense of humor. Seriously. It is one of the most underrated qualities in a candidate.

Helped Reagan tremendously.

But he believes what he says. Obama is a complete phoney. I don’t get that vibe from Ryan.

“But what do you know about Ryan?”

He was pro-TARP and has never held a job outside the government. Only 40. Been in Congress since age 28. Career staffer before that and then succeeded the Congressman he worked for. Wouldn’t know the real world if it bit him. Wringing wet behind the ears. Less real world experience than Obama (and that is saying something)

Flat and uninspiring as a speaker. Bring him on. Sarah Palin will have no problem defeating him.

>”Another unpredictable RINO in the Senate is actually worse than having Boxer”<

Are you from California? Do you think it makes any difference if a Democrat or a Republican is the Majority Leader of the Senate? Is it Happy Hour where you live?

I'm no RINO lover, but ANYBODY BUT BOXER sounds good to me.
The woman is as dumb as a rock as are her supporters.

Only 40.

Wow, that is young. Is he even interested in running?

Because California is not a religious state, there is no way for social conservatives to reach the public here with a short political message.

In a conservative state, conservatives have key words and touchstones that they can use to reach the public by writing and speaking in that language that can say more than they are really saying in a short ad, or speech.

California is a very libertarian/liberal state, nothing matters here except self gratification, and financial profit of some sort and the battle lines are always drawn that way.

Libertarians and liberals are united on the social front, so the rest of the arguing is about things that don’t grab people’s hearts, things like pension plans and such.

Tom campbell:
“Campbell supports abortion rights and gay marriage, and argues that Boxer’s greatest asset against either of his two Republican opponents, former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina and state Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, would be the state’s decidedly un-conservative social views.

“She has always been able to move the debate over to the social issues. She will not be able to do that against me,” Campbell told POLITICO.”

That’s Sybil’s supporters feeding you that. As of last month....

DeVore has raised $1.8 million for Senate bid

“An interesting admission in Benjy Sarlin’s interview with Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), the GOP’s brainy ranking member on the House Budget Committee who’s been targeted by Democrats for his entitlement-cutting proposals.

Ryan said his vote for the bailout was influenced by Jonah Goldberg’s Liberal Fascism, a popular book among conservatives that argues that Nazism and other fascist movements were actually left wing in origin, and his belief that a second Depression would threaten capitalism—and rescue Obama’s presidency.

“I’m a limited-government, free-enterprise guy, but TARP… represented a moment where we had no good options and we were about to fall into a deflationary spiral,” he said. “I believe Obama would not only have won, but would have been able to sweep through a huge statist agenda very quickly because there would have been no support for the free-market system.””

http://washingtonindependent.com/76412/paul-ryan-i-voted-for-tarp-because-of-jonah-goldbergs-liberal-fascism

Ryan voted for the massive bailout because he read a Jonah Goldberg book and thought it would be a good idea. Talk about naive. Government spending us to bankruptcy to save capitalism. Sounds like FDR to me. No way, Jose!

That is one reason to cross Ryan off the list. Too naive. Not enough experience and good sense.

Didn't help Bob Dole much. ;-)

I live in CA. I’m definitely for Boxer losing. But I also see how dangerous RINO’s are.

Specter and the two ladies from Maine giving Obama political cover is worse than having a predictable liberal rubber stamp.

The whole point of this thread was to try and figure out why Palin threw herself out there for Carly when she really didn’t have to.

Jim,

If it's a RINO vs Boxer, who would you vote for?

The Primary is where we fight off RINOS. If we are unsuccessful there, the General Election leaves us with only two choices, Bad and Disaster.

On this point, I agree with Mark Levin. There IS a difference between the Democrat Party and the Republican Party, even if we have to vote in the RINO Candidate at the end of the day.

If a RINO wins the Primary, he / she will be the California version of Scott Brown.

To save the country from 6 more years of Boxer or 6 years of the execrable Campbell. Fiorina is prolife and progun. Campbell is not. A vote for Devore assists Campbell. She said that in her endorsement. You don’t have to figure anything out.
