We all remember how painful it was when gasoline prices surged past four bucks a gallon a couple years ago. The price is now around $3 a gallon. That steep sum will seem like chump change if global-warming alarmists in Congress have their way.
Long-anticipated climate-change legislation is scheduled to be unveiled in the Senate today. The ostensible purpose is to clean the air by cutting carbon emissions 17 percent below 2005 levels by 2020. If the bill becomes law, though, consumers will get smoked as they are forced to pay more for a fill-up.
Backers of this measure are more beholden to ideology than reality. As scientific data shows the Earth is actually cooling, the only thing heating up is alarmist rhetoric. On Friday, Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs said the president believes "now more than ever is the time to act," indicating White House complicity in the push for higher gas prices. Attempting to impose new burdens on American families struggling in a buckling economy in hopes of mitigating an unproven climate theory says a lot about the O Force's warped priorities.
The bill's sponsors had a hard time getting this one ready for prime time. Sen. John Kerry, Massachusetts Democrat, and Sen. Joe Lieberman, Connecticut independent, planned to introduce their legislation last month but delayed it when co-sponsor Sen. Lindsey Graham, South Carolina Republican, dropped out after Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid decided to advance amnesty for illegal aliens instead.

Mobil 1 oil = +1mpg
Manual trans. = 10% more efficient
Low restriction muffler = +1-2mpg
Insulated airbox (cools air going into engine) cooler air has more O2 than warm air.
Keep weight down.

This all adds performance too.
I read that cap and trade adds a $1.50 per gallon tax from the federal government as it is wrote now. That would kill any recovery we might be having if overnight gas goes from $3 to $4.50.
We’re going to be due for a new car soon and I don’t have the slightest idea what to look for. I’m not about to buy one of the roller skates but I want something that gets halfway decent mileage. I hate buying cars! :-)
Yep, and that’s outrageous. If it was actually a worldwide emergency it might be different but this is nothing more than a scam.

Dont forget your Algore tax. The 10% RTOH fuel which is all I can find, raises the cost of the fuel 2% on the theoretical. or 6 cent/gal on 3.00 fuel. On my GMC Denali it is more like 6% or 18 cents. Oh well we must all sacrifice to fight GW.

just to pick up groceries we have to drive 35 miles round trip..there are a few local mom and pop stores, but their prices are so inflated we are better off driving the 35 miles..
our ‘date nights’ have been eliminated, church is once a week only...not many family visits...sad to say the least...never dreamed that our Senior years were going to be this tuft!!!

The idea that the US can modify to ratio of Co2 in the atmosphere is ludicrous.
I wonder how many tons of carbon have been spewed by the volcano in Iceland? I bet it’s a bunch. All the more reason to call this for what it is. A tax increase.

The enviro nazis are behind it but if this or another bill passes in Congress they’ll be a few less of them when they realize what it’s costing them but it’ll be too late because the damage will have been done.
