Laura Bush Supports Gay Marriage, Abortion

Former first lady Laura Bush has broken with her husband on the premier social issues of his administration and said she backs gay marriage and abortion.

After more than eight years of silence on the controversial issues, Mrs. Bush said in an interview with CNN's Larry KingTuesday, that gay marriage and abortion were points of contention with her husband, former President George W. Bush.

Mrs. Bush in recent weeks has been promoting her memoir "Spoken from the Heart," in which she writes about her life both before and after becoming first lady.

In response to a question about gay marriage, she said, "There are a lot of people who have trouble coming to terms with that because they see marriage as traditionally between a man and a woman. But I also know that, you know, when couples are committed to each other and love each other, that they ought to have, I think, the same sort of rights that everyone has."

Mrs. Bush said she and the ex-president "disagree" on legalizing same-sex marriage.

The abortion issue is red meat issue for the sheeple.

I’m convinced they have no intention of doing anything about it.

It’s too valuable as a fund raising issue to take it away.

I think she is aligned with her somewhat left leaning daughter, Jenna, for sure. They wrote a book together. And Barbara has travelled in poverty stricken countries which often equates with lib in training.
But compared to the classless Bigfoot?
Laura was a model first lady and a classy woman.
I will not buy the book as I had planned to, however, as I will not give money to a non Conservative ..
Haven’t seen alot of movies lately either with Hollywood libs aimin’ to profit.
Maybe I’ll rent some old John Wayne classics this weekend!

Why are kids disposable for women if they dont want them, but a financial liability to men if they want them.

You cant have the kids in your life but you get all the bills.

These ideas are fundamentally barmy.

Why does a Mans feelings have no position in the law when it comes to abortion?

Oh, its that old “My Body Thing”

Om dear... the kid was mentioned last again.

I did however, vote for her husband - both times - and his Father for that matter; and while there is a 'for better' and 'for worse', the better of GW, saved our Country from a worse fate on the world stage - such as the fate - so damning - now being cast by our current President.

I was about to say "Mr. Cricket" then thought "Mrs...?" or "Sir...?" or "Madam...?"

I just wanted to offer thanks for your insight and reason.

I love them both--even more now that I see how much like me they are.

Well I hope you aren’t implying that I believe I have all the answers because that wasn’t my intent and because I don’t. But...there are ‘concrete’ answers that are unchangeable, no matter what popular opinion is. There is such a thing as moral absolutes. Don’t you agree?

But with Nancy Reagan, truly, you knew what you were getting.

That's for sure. Ronald Reagan had written that cutting-edge book embracing the pro-life positon just before the 1984 elections, so we all knew the lives of the unborn mattered to him. We all overlooked Nancy, because we knew Ronnie's heart.

and Laura? Yeah wanting to vomit about sums it up for me too.

Its time for the media to divide the GOP again

The media? The entire Bush family has been doing one heck of a job of it since Reagan left office.

Nobody has all the answers, and no I wasn’t implying that at all!

Agree?

Heck yes!

dangus, I disagree. I belive GW was very consistent on the pro-life front, in spite of demoncrap, RINO and spousal pushback.
As far as Laura, I'm sad. She's still classy, but, hey, I'd take a classless staunch pro-life over an impeccable class-act pro-abortionist any day.

First Lady Laura Bush has always been pro-abortion, but I didn’t know she also supports gay marriage until I watched LKL that I TIVO’d last night.

UGH.

Her progressive (and I think unconscionable) views are hers and she didn’t influence her husband, President Bush.

All your points are spectacular My!

It is the whole tearing down of the family structure in my opinion. Give the child to the person most likely to depend on the gov for money and votes, then make the person who has the least say in the courts pay!!!

Win, Win...for the gov!

Families suffer horribly!

To many deaths happen under this process on both sides!

there is something deeply faulty with someone who is for the butchering of babies or sanctioned depravity

Thank you for my new tagline.

I guess we know now why she felt comfortable going on Oprah. :~(

That explains why Oprah wasn't giving her the Sarah Palin hate stare.

Well, I know I won’t be reading her book. And to think I really admired her at one time....

She is a total fake. She didn't have the guts to be honest about her own opinions. I don't find it *classy* to lie for 9 years. I find it gutless. How many millions of Conservative women admired her, and only now, after 8 years in the WH and one year out, has she owned up to her own opinions. A total fake.

Yep. That family, as a unit, was never pro-life. They were forced into a pro-life stance because of the Republican Platform and that was the only way they could win the nomination.
