It's the 'new coke'...
Seems easier to add a 'low salt' version but hey - what's a conservative to know about such liberal "body" fears...

The seaweed burger McDonalds put out some years ago failed - turned out there weren't enough liberal elite female journalists to buy the thing.
Catsup is a flavor enhancer - take away that part of it - and you've got nothing.

Exactly. Even our ketchup wants to nanny us now.
"The catalyst...came from the changing needs of our consumers"
Needs, not wants.
I'd like to see one letter from a customer asking Heinz to reduce the salt. This is being forced from above on a public that doesn't want this kind "change".
I hope there's a backlash. Hunts needs to start a campaign to unseat Heinz. Their slogan could be "Heinz. The incumbent ketchup."

I guess we could just unscrew the cap and add a pinch of salt.

Salt is far less dangerous than the ideas these people put forth ...Rationed health care is dangerous - and will be deadly for many of us - much more deadly than a few grains of salt.

Great points.
I just went on the Heinz website and asked whether it was customers or “nanny state” pressure. Also asked them to consider two versions of the product, using the “classic” label that someone mentioned above.

I haven't bought Heinz products since I learned the connection with Theresa Kerry but the following quote is lib speak::
It's really hard for me to eat without salt. I think it's infringing on our rights!"

In days past when I wanted soup, I would reach for Cambells...not anymore. Since started using that damned sea salt it tastes like crap.

Yeah, they’re going to be sneaky about it. They’re just going to quietly make the change. There won’t be a low salt and a classic version, since that would tip off the public. Instead it will be stealthy like a VAT tax.
This ketchup thing really is a great illustration of what liberalism is. It would be a great teaching tool for Rush.
To: Dallas59
What in-house brand of ketchup tastes best? I usually just buy Heinz. Since they plan on f-ing up the classic taste, I will start looking around now for a new ketchup. I will appreciate any and all suggestions.
Good morning all and have a happy Friday. :)

I am restricting sodium intake due to high blood pressure.
However, not everyone is in my situation. I only ask for alternative low sodium products or stay away from canned items which are mega-sodium. I don’t want the government to force people into a one-size-fits-all recipe.
To: Sub-Driver
Some people can eat copious amounts of salt with no ill effects. Others, not so much. But a general objection to salt to taste consumption is just plain stupid.

I dont know if it is so much a capitulation to pressure from Obama. I believe many of these companies realize that trial lawyers have food companies in their crosshairs and are taking preemptive measures.

From this link at Heinz.....
Heinz food info
Even Heinz Ketchup comes in a "no salt added" variety
Why the heck can't the folks who want no/low sodium buy that one?!
