WASHINGTON (AP) -- Conservative lawyers and academics are voicing support for Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan, praise that could soften criticism from the right and provide cover for any Republican senators inclined to vote for her nomination.

The essence of their take on Kagan, the former Harvard Law School dean who now serves as solicitor general, is that she clearly has the smarts to be a justice and has shown an ability to work with all sides on thorny issues.

Ha! I saw a piece on the local L.A. channel (KCAL-9) yesterday. The gist of the story was that some former skeptics were surprised that Kagan was so moderate. For their example they played a clip of Arlen Specter! But the really funny part was the caption of the clip said “Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA)”! The media is really piling it on for this.

RE :”Former special prosecutor Kenneth Starr, who ran the investigation that led to President Bill Clinton's impeachment, said charges by some conservatives that Kagan holds extreme views are off-base. “That's politics, and unfortunately confirmation politics have been very ugly, with a few happy interludes, ever since the nomination of Judge Robert Bork,” Starr said on MSNBC.

If Ken Starr is a conservative what the hell is he doing on MSNBC? I am not the type to jump to conclusions (Megan Kelly will do a nonpartision legal analysis on her as she did Alito and Roberts) but I notice the MSM LOVES to dig up so called ‘conservatives’ to support democrats. When was Ken Starr a conservative? Just because Clinton hated him? Who cares what he thinks?

Shove her thesis up their arses and make them explain her love of socialism and her claim it should be nurtured and protected.

Specter voted against her confirmation for Solicitor General but now supports her for the higher office of Supreme Court Justice. His explanation about why he changed makes no sense.

I think Starr is a conservative (or at least a Republican).

But I believe he’s gone off the rails before. The details escape me.
