The idea that nuclear weapons will usher in an era of peace and security for the Islamic Republic is likely to prove to be nothing short of an illusioneven if Ayatollah Khameneis regime succeeds in averting a military strike against its nuclear installations before it reaches its military goals for its nuclear programme.
History has shown that there are many countries against the idea of a powerful Islamic Republic.
In 1979, the newly born Islamic Republic of Iran was armed to the teeth with sophisticated US military technology that had been purchased by the Shah, making it a regional military superpower in its own right. But this was deemed a threat to Western and Arab interests in the region, who believed that something had to be done to weaken Iran and to keep the regimes ambitions and power in check.
The solution was found in Saddam Hussein and his long-held Iranian territorial desires. The Arab world financed his invasion. France and the USSR sold him sophisticated weaponry, while the US provided political support.
The war served its purpose for eight yearsit cost Iran more than one million dead or maimed, and approximately $300 billion of damage to its economy. Had Iraq not invaded, the Islamic Republic of Iran could have been (after Israel) the most powerful military force in the region. In terms of political influence beyond its borders, it could have been the most powerful.
Since the end of the conflict, Iran has slowly but surely rebuilt its armed forces and regional influence.

Lotta extra men when each man can have four wives...
Back in the day, the Israeli military had a strong military alliance with the Shah’s military. That didn’t last long after the mule-ahs took over.
Unfortunately is has also shown few possess the stomach to stop them, and we can probably now count the U.S.A. in that list.
Multi-front war with WHO??? Won’t be the US - our POTUS (in name only) doesn’t have the guts to do anything, Iraq doesn’t have the capability even if they wanted to (which they don’t), AFghanistan? Try again. Israel is the only nation in the region with any thoughts whatsoever... And they won’t pull the trigger unless they really believe their own demise is imminent.

Against Saddam doesn't count, that was a draw. Iran fought Iraq for 8 years and made almost no progress. The US took out Iraq in 3 weeks.
You probably have to go back to Cyrus the Great for a Persian victory.
Thank you for the ping Sonofstrangelove.
A Look at Iran
Next Saudi either fields it’s own nukes or some deal is cobbled together to bring the Gulf States under someone else’s nuclear “umbrella”. Can you say Cold War II?
They already have the missiles for them.
