ABC’s Hasselbeck Recommends Conservatives Stop ‘Hating’ on Gay Marriage
Newsbusters.org ^ | 05/15/2010 | Brad Wilmouth

On Thursday’s The View on ABC, during a discussion of Laura Bush’s recent revelation that she disagrees with her husband on the issues of abortion and same-sex marriage, normally right-leaning co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck voiced agreement with the former First Lady, but also used a surprising choice of words as she recommended that conservatives talk to gay couples about the issue rather than "hating" about it. Hasselbeck:

I think there are a lot of, maybe, conservatives out there who are talking about gay marriage and not necessarily with someone who wants to have gay marriage or has been in a gay marriage. You know, I had Melissa Etheridge over, we had dinner, we talked for hours about gay marriage, and I would really challenge people: Get out there. Instead of just talking about it and hating on it, actually talk to someone who’s loved someone else and have the conversation about what can be done...

Elisabeth Hasselbeck should read her Bible.

Exactly.

So Elizabeth... Who are we to follow? Society or the will of God?

Most conservatives who oppose gay marriage do not "hate" the couples that are involved in gay relationships. They see the sacredness of the nuclear family as one to defend and protect. They are willing to fight for this as they see the destruction of a society if we continue to allow societal sexual exploration and exploitation to become the norm.

I SO AGREE AND HAVE SAID THIS FOR A LONG TIME!!!!

As a single person I am penalized all over the place for being ‘not married”...I can not bequeth my social security money I have been forced to pay for years! At work others can take “family leave”. there are also insurance benefits, etc ...I just don’t want to go on...It makes me so mad.

If “marriage” was out of the govt area, all this ‘gay marriage” would be SO OVER!

Yeesh.

If marriage has no reference to children, then it is not marriage at all. Tax policy subsidizes families with children because society needs children or it soon ceases to exist. We are headed down that road. There are a huge number of unmarried women who will never be part of a traditional family, and if they have children, a large portion will be unproductive. If the number of gay men increases, that further reduces the number of children. The end result is a “mule” society. Mules are often good workers, but they they don’t leave progeny to take their place when they get old and die.

"If marriage has no reference to children, then it is not marriage at all. Tax policy subsidizes families with children because society needs children or it soon ceases to exist."

Wrong answer! You do NOT deserve more of my paycheck and labor just because I am not married. My mother and father with 5 children were never "subsidized" (aka, welfare) by the government.

"The policy of the American government is to leave their citizens free, neither restraining nor aiding them in their pursuits."

--Thomas Jefferson

The federal government is restraining me with a much heavier tax burden and aiding you with a much lighter tax burden (aka welfare).

How conservative are you really that you live on government welfare?

That blithering, blathering, bloviating idiot, Bill O'Reilly, is a semi-regular feature on "The Spew".

He really gets off on being the center of attention on the couch surrounded by Star Wars bar-scene female freakazoids.

Along with any and all brain-dead viewers, BOR is an enabler for these amoral, unwholesome women.

The tax credits exist for married couples to promote stable families and marriages.

I’m sure some pedophiles have “loved” their child victims and maybe even vice-versa, that does not make pedophilia any more legitimate.

LOL. You're not paying a dime more for married couples to receive tax credits.

Yep! It would be over. A dead issue. I find it a bit appalling that conservatives have no problem going on government welfare (aka marriage and kid tax credits) while other Americans are burden with higher taxes to make up for their welfare freebies from the nanny-government. I guess some conservatives feel they have a right to more of my labor than they feel I have a right to their labor.

To warn my fellow man who engage in homosexual sex, that their eternal souls are in jeopardy of everlasting fire at the hand of God’s Judgment is not hate, but is in fact, a courageous expression of love and caring! Hassekkbeck needs to get her prospectives aligned with reality IMHO

"The tax credits exist for married couples to promote stable families and marriages."

It's welfare. You like welfare. You think you have a right to more of my labor than I have a right to your labor? You think you're special? I need to labor harder and longer for you than you for me? My parents rasied 5 kids and never took government welfare nor did they need for a nanny-govenment to socially engineer them.

I'll ask again: You think you have a right to more of my labor than I have a right to your labor?

Finally!

This fool has been falsely promoting herself as the “Right” for a long time....she cannot even argue a point without getting confused. She has never been able to hold up the farce very well.

A few weeks ago she slipped up and criticized Palin for using “targeted” districts on her election map.

Maybe the show has decided to end the charade?

You are dumb! I pay $1500 more per child than a married couple.
