Homeland Security Alert: Terror suspect may be headed to Texas through Mexico

SNIPPET: "HOUSTON -- A Homeland Security Alert is asking Houston police and Harris County Sheriff’s deputies to keep their eyes open for a potential terrorist.

The alert focuses on Mohamed Ali, a suspected member of the terrorist group Al Shabaab. It indicates he may be traveling to the U.S. through Mexico."

SNIPPET: "In 2007, former Houstonian Daniel Joseph Maldonado was brought back to Houston by the U.S Attorney in the Southern District after he was captured in Somalia reportedly training with terrorist groups.

“He had initially been on the frontlines of Al Shabaab, but when they realized he was an American, they pulled him back because they had plans for him to come back to the U.S. and recruit female suicide bombers,” said Neuhaus Schaan."

SNIPPET: "U.S. Homeland Security officials confirmed the Muhamed Ali alert, but declined to comment on it."

SNIPPET: "If authorities are right, Mohamed Ali is hardly alone and a terror network is following well-worn human smuggling routes into the Lone Star State.

“There would be a reasonable chance to have him [Mohamed Ali] coming through Houston,” Neuhaus Schaan said. “They [Al Shabaab] have been pretty busy in Texas.”

Somalian Charged with Making False Statements on Application for Asylum...

Somalian Charged with Making False Statements on Application for Asylum

Defendant is Accused of Making False Statements Concerning Participation in Terrorist Organizations

United States Attorney John E. Murphy announced that in San Antonio, a federal grand jury has indicted 24-year-old Ahmed Muhammed Dhakane, a citizen of Somalia, on two counts of making false statements under penalty of perjury to federal authorities concerning his association with global terrorist organizations.

The indictment, returned yesterday and unsealed this afternoon, alleges that on October 28, 2008, the defendant falsely omitted on an application for asylum that from a time prior to September 11, 2001, until January 2003, he was a member of, or was associated with, al-Barakat and Al-Ittihad Al-Islami (AIAI). Both organizations have been designated by the Department of Treasury pursuant to Executive Order 13224 as Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGT).

The indictment also alleges that the defendant provided additional false information concerning his entry into the United States. The defendant allegedly claimed to authorities that he and his wife traveled from Somalia to Mexico via Russia, Cuba, Costa Rica, and Guatemala. While in Mexico, they traveled by bus to the United States/Mexico border, where they were smuggled illegally into the United States. The indictment alleges that defendant failed to disclose to authorities that from June 2006 until March 2008, he resided in Brazil where he participated in, and later ran, a large-scale human smuggling enterprise knowing that such disclosure to authorities would prevent him from receiving asylum in the United States.

On March 28, 2008, Dhakane surrendered to U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents near Brownsville, Texas. He was being held in an Immigration Detention Facility located in Pearsall, Texas, when he allegedly made the false statements to federal authorities.

Upon conviction, Dhakane faces up to 10 years in federal prison per count.

This case was investigated by agents with the Joint Terrorism Task Force, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the U.S. Border Patrol, and the Department of Homeland Security. Assistant United States Attorney Mark Roomberg is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.

An indictment is merely a charge and should not be considered as evidence of guilt. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven in guilty in a court of law.

Stinking RINOs Rick Perry, Kay Bailey and Cornyn are against AZ’s law like POS fairy Crist and Marco flip flop Rubio. He likes it for AZ but not for Florida.

Nope, not worth it...

It has been gamed out that a simple raid running down highway 225 lobbing RPG’s (out the back of a pick up truck) into the industrial infrastructure would be the most effective thing they could do...

Thats if Houston/Pasadena, Texas was considered a target...

But that is just a guess...Kinda like when there was some actionable intel found in a cave over there about the word “Pasadena”...And the experts assumed it was Pasadena, California, because they have the Rose Parade...

Someone said, “Whoa, wait a minute...”, Pasadena, Texas; one of the largest petrochem areas in the country...

DUH!!!

Regardless of where it happens...This country will come unglued...

I’d be prepared for any eventuality...

I'd heard about motels being bought up in the SW by middle easterners years ago from visitors from your locale years ago, Jinxy. Last week I read a post about them running pizzerias in Texas on the thread about Reynosa. Seems to me there are havens already set up at the end of the pipeline.

tick....tock.....tick.....tock....

Maybe isolation on an island isn’t such a bad idea after all. At least, not as long as you can survive off local foodstuffs...

They were here 10 years ago running an electronics scam, selling junk laptops, cell phones, pirated CDs and DVDs and ripoff watches and jewelry. All legal and licensed for a weekend. It was a 'wham, bam, thank you Ma'am' event.

It was done for the bucks.....and probably to recover costs of once functioning computer items that they gutted for the drives and components.

I worried greatly about a shut down of Hilo harbor after that, since they were here. The island is logistically insufficient without it.

Yes. And if they try to stop him, the guards may get in trouble. This has happened more than once

They are acting like this is a done deal. The media is acting like spectators describing just how he will get into our country and never mention Mexico possibly aiding him (they don’t want terrorists in their country) And there is no mention of actually trying to stop the guy. Keep your eyes open harris county because a muslim terrorist is going to arrive there sometime soon. Once he gets to sharpstown or harwin, he will never be found.

keep their eyes open for a potential terrorist

So what does a potential terrorist look like? From the MSM it's usually a white tea-partier or one of those white racist NRA members? I just need to know so if I see one I can report them, thanks. /sar

“They aren’t even allowed to question the terrorists already here. Houston is a sanctuary city. “

I don’t think a lot of people realize that that is was Arizona’s law is all about. It’s not that the law is redundant with existing law....the language is such that it now REQUIRES law enforcement, if they have reason to believe, to inquire about immigration status. I heard two supposed ‘experts’ going round with someone on CNN about the new law not being necessary if the law already ALLOWS the police, if they have reason to believe, to ask. The entire segment ended with no one grasping the difference between REQUIRING and ALLOWING. Sometimes I just want to jump the the dang screen and scream. Bottom line, the original intent of the law was to prevent sanctuary cities and if AZ law is followed, it will. Texas needs to do the same...but the law must be worded the same.
