Following a New York Times report that he exaggerated his military record, Democratic Senate hopeful Richard Blumenthal has lost ground in match-ups against all his potential Republican challengers in Connecticut.

Since he won’t win the primary now because this came out before, all this is moot.
We will not get this seat, period.
Not to worry, when the elevator hits the ground floor they'll pick up the dead. Bloomy wins big here. It's Connecticut for God's sake.
That story just came out yesterday and already he has fallen that far? As this thing hangs around, it may get worse for him.
And that would explain WHY the Times was so eager to break this now....If the GOP candidate, McMahon, was responsible for the data dump tot he Times, as she has cliamed..then her political advisors should be shot..or a least fired..this should have bee held until AFTER the state deadline to replace candidates..
Too bad there isn’t a serious Republican in the mix to actually challenge Blumenthal.
How those people could stand up there on the podium with him & support him is beyond me.
state deadlines mean nothing either, remember Lautenberg/Torricelli
From the article:
“Both major political parties are holding state conventions to begin the candidate nomination process this weekend. Depending upon the results of the conventions, the nominees may not become known until an August 10 primary.”
August primaries??? Only 90 days before the General???
That’s nail biting!!
I disagree, he would still win the primary, but Blumenthal’s problem is the calender, the Dems still have 1 week before they have to settle on a nominee, they may run to Murphy considering these dismal polls. Stay tuned.
Linda McMahon has $50 million to spend, Rob Simmons is a former Congressman/decorated Vietnam Vet/former CIA operative and Schiff is a very well respected hedge fund manager, all 3 are serious and considering yesterday all 3 could beat Blumenthal.
I agree.
OK. Fair enough.. I'll retract what I said. Though I don't necessarily agree Simmons or Schiff have enough juice to have a shot. Since money does go a long way, I suppose McMahon may. We'll soon see.
“Since money does go a long way, I suppose McMahon may. We’ll soon see.”
A fair statement if I ever read one.
Then the NYT would not have run with it and she would have had to put it out there by herself and it would have been ignored. This way, they can still get a replacement for him out there in time to salvage the seat.
LOL!!! Great work!!!
Thanks so much moose2004!
