Bloom takes 199th [FReeper wins intense primary in Pennsylvania]

For much of the evening Tuesday, any one of four candidates were in line to win the Republican nomination for the 199th Legislative District seat.

North Middleton Township resident and local attorney Stephen Bloom appears to have emerged victorious in the seven-way Republican primary to earn the nomination.

As of Wednesday morning, all absentee ballots have been included in the results.

Bloom won the 199th race by 284 votes, unofficially, with 2,163 votes. Denny Lebo had 1,879.

The county board of elections will meet at 9 a.m. May 25 to certify ballot results. They will then be sent to the Department of State.

Bloom will now face Democrat Fred Baldwin in November’s general election. The winner in November will replace Rep. Will Gabig, who opted not to run for a sixth term to the state House.

“We knew it was going to be close,” the 48-year-old said about the race. “We’ve been working extremely hard. We knew we had to work hard and get the message out.”

Bloom, who was celebrating with friends and family at the Sunnyside Restaurant, said he believes he was victorious because voters in the conservative 199th see him as a “good listener and strong advocate” in Harrisburg.

Bloom has said he strongly favors returning to a true part-time citizen Legislature, as our founders intended.

“I think everyone is ready to cut the size and scope of our government,” he said.

“FR humor? I don’t see the humor.”

Of course you don’t, you have to complete your “about page” before Jim sends you the secret decoder ring. Until then, you are just a moran!

Keep in mind that you get extra credit novelties if you include many pictures on your profile, especially if you are “not guilty.”

Congratulations, Stephen.

On to victory in the general election, then get sworn in . . .

THEN, cut, cut, cut.

Best wishes.

How can PA have 199 congressional districts?

It's the PA State Legislature. 203 districts. They roughly doubled it in 1873, on the theory that a bigger group of legislators would be harder to bribe. No lie.

This is quite a milestone! Congratulations! Has a Freeper ever one a primary election before?

(And no, I don’t mean an election to some Keyester third party position, either). ;)

I may be wrong, but you are the first I can recall. I know that a few have run over the years and lost.
