The knock on Rand Paul from both Republicans and Democrats during the primary was his electability in a general election. His conservo-libertarian views would push the Republican ticket out of the mainstream, allowing the eventual Democratic nominee to grab the center and win a takeaway in the midterms. Rasmussen’s latest poll of likely voters in Kentucky show that the problem may be reversed, and that Jack Conway is in serious danger of being marginalized:
Rand Paul, riding the momentum of his big Republican Primary win on Tuesday, now posts a 25-point lead over Democrat Jack Conway in Kentucky’s U.S. Senate race, but there’s a lot of campaigning to go.
A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Kentucky, taken Wednesday night, shows Paul earning 59% of the vote, while Conway picks up 34% support. Four percent (4%) percent prefer some other candidate, and three percent (3%) are undecided.

I apologize for the mama joke — it is rather standard issue and I hope you saw it for the OTT sarcasm it was meant for.
If you followed some of the other threads I get pelted on, you would understand why I strike back so strongly.
I really worked hard to distill the toad and scorpion parable to fit into the size limit we have for tags. I am working on it — please (I am not being sarcastic) let me know if this is a little clearer...

I once had a tete-a-tete with someone on a thread. When I calmed down she ended up being one of my best FRiends. She also helped me see some things in me that needed to be seen.
Sadly, she passed away not long after, but at least we cemented our friendship before that happened.

Allow me to fix your tagline
The frog who gives a ride to a scorpion should expect a sting and the phrase "it is my nature."
In the parable, it is the scorpion that provides the ride to the frog :)
But I think we have the basis of a FRiendship by analyzing said parable.
You had better recheck the parable. You version is highly unlikely. Nevermind, I’ll do it.

That notwithstanding, I have been watching Rand Paul with some interest.
I honestly think his dad is a nut-case. And some of what Rand has said (such as the things that got him into trouble here) suggests that rand may be a little closer to the trunk than is good for him.
But as embodiment of a “Tea Party Candidate” from a group of people who are beholding to no one I think he is a pretty good example of what we, then unwashed masses the MSM so disdains, can accomplish.
The Scorpion and the Frog
One day, a scorpion looked around at the mountain where he lived and decided that he wanted a change. So he set out on a journey through the forests and hills. He climbed over rocks and under vines and kept going until he reached a river.
The river was wide and swift, and the scorpion stopped to reconsider the situation. He couldn't see any way across. So he ran upriver and then checked downriver, all the while thinking that he might have to turn back.
Suddenly, he saw a frog sitting in the rushes by the bank of the stream on the other side of the river. He decided to ask the frog for help getting across the stream.
"Hellooo Mr. Frog!" called the scorpion across the water, "Would you be so kind as to give me a ride on your back across the river?"
"Well now, Mr. Scorpion! How do I know that if I try to help you, you wont try to kill me?" asked the frog hesitantly.
"Because," the scorpion replied, "If I try to kill you, then I would die too, for you see I cannot swim!"
Now this seemed to make sense to the frog. But he asked. "What about when I get close to the bank? You could still try to kill me and get back to the shore!"
"This is true," agreed the scorpion, "But then I wouldn't be able to get to the other side of the river!"
"Alright then...how do I know you wont just wait till we get to the other side and THEN kill me?" said the frog.
"Ahh...," crooned the scorpion, "Because you see, once you've taken me to the other side of this river, I will be so grateful for your help, that it would hardly be fair to reward you with death, now would it?!"
So the frog agreed to take the scorpion across the river. He swam over to the bank and settled himself near the mud to pick up his passenger. The scorpion crawled onto the frog's back, his sharp claws prickling into the frog's soft hide, and the frog slid into the river. The muddy water swirled around them, but the frog stayed near the surface so the scorpion would not drown. He kicked strongly through the first half of the stream, his flippers paddling wildly against the current.
Halfway across the river, the frog suddenly felt a sharp sting in his back and, out of the corner of his eye, saw the scorpion remove his stinger from the frog's back. A deadening numbness began to creep into his limbs.
"You fool!" croaked the frog, "Now we shall both die! Why on earth did you do that?"
The scorpion shrugged, and did a little jig on the drownings frog's back.
"I could not help myself. It is my nature."
Then they both sank into the muddy waters of the swiftly flowing river.
Self destruction - "Its my Nature", said the Scorpion...
That should end this discussion!!
My only point was that the dem lied in his ads and they were on TV constantly suggesting that the republican wanted to add the 23% to income tax.
OK, sorry if I had tunnel vision.
