“For bringing mentally ill homeless people to the home where his angelic daughters lived”
I have to agree with you.
The protection of one’s family is first.
There is/was no excuse for his lack of judgement and lack of common sense.
1) For bringing mentally ill homeless people to the home where his angelic daughters lived(cough up a few bucks for a roofer, Ed)
2) So I never have to see his smarmy punk ass on TV with asshat John Walsh again.

OK. You might have an argument on point 1, but since when is this situation about you? Holy crap, get over yourself or get a remote for the TV.
I thought Elizabeth Smart was abducted by a couple. Anyone know what happened to the man?
Got one. Sense of humor on the fritz?
She's agreed to testify in pending state and federal cases against her now-estranged husband, Brian Mitchell.

Which part were you intending to be funny? I’m thinking it might have been the delivery, not the reception.
Why start with me?
Thanks, Joe.
Yes, it soundas crazy, but it would go far to explian the quizzical, counter-intuitive behavior of Ed Smart.
And really: Allowing a bum off the street to come into your home is tantamount to child abuse. "Oh, but you don't know that the bum is gonna do anything bad" I can hear the feelings-based people say. Well, I can fire off my gun in a crowded room and maybe not hit anybody, but that doesn't mean it a good idea.
Also, I agree with #2. I don't want to see his self-righteous face on TV ever again either. He is a poor father to expose his family to that danger. He is a poor father to not think about his family first. It's common sense. He did not exhibit any that day.
“I know plenty of roofers I wouldnt want around either”
I’ve had pretty good experiences with roofers and most tradesmen. The only really bad time I had was with some tree butchers. Con men, really. The work didn’t get done and at the end I kept a loaded shotgun handy.
Thanks for the post.
David Mitchell has been fighting to not have his case go to trial by acting nuts every time he’s in the court room. His lawyer had some psychologist rule him incompetent. The prosecution’s psychologists said “not so.” Then, there was a long battle over whether he was pretending to be incompetent or not, so he could stay in the more cushy psych facility, as opposed to regular prison. He finally lost that battle, and his case will go to trial. As somebody else posted, Barzee will testify against Mitchell in his trial. I wish they could fry him, but as it is, he’s going away for a long time.
Thanks for the info....gathered from Google that his trial is set for November.
I agree with gundog. He was trying to save a dollar to put a roof. His cheapness almost killed his family.

I bet gundog doesn’t agree with you. I for sure don’t. Smart was not cheap. He was not trying to save a dollar. He was trying to give a homeless guy a chance. He was trying to be compassionate. He may have been a fool and naive.
But not cheap.
No I watched him in the interviews and listened to his story. He is a cheap person and he was trying to save a buck. I have no respect for him.
Did he lock his doors? Giving a homeless guy a chance is one thing. Bringing a self-proclaimed prophet into your home is another. I've roofed a lot of houses...I don't go inside them. Smart has money. Does he have an alarm system? Or would that betray a trust in his fellow man?
Child molesters need hanged, never jail.
